(24,324 posts)But I found this one particularly pathetic in the amateurishness of his attempt to change publicly confirmed facts. (yes, on second thought, the letter he wrote for his own doctor extolling his fabulous health was up there).

(6,831 posts)in Alabama, IF the NWS had NOT come out and invalidated his reckless announcement ?
I've lived through three hurricanes (FL, TX and FL, again), and once the word is out, people flock to the stores and empty the shelves, race to the gas stations and fill up the cars or high-tail it out of town to safer places. The stampede of panicked, frightened people is dangerous.
His paralyzing stupidity and ruinous ego could have caused an unnecessary crisis and untold damage. But instead of saying that he was mistaken, he doubled down on his completely irresponsible comments.
WHEN DOES THE LINE IN THE SAND GET CROSSED ???
Do people have to fucking DIE for this walking hazmat to be removed ?

(13,776 posts)This is so in-your-face nuts and totally indefensible. It's the kind of petty, stupid, childish action--not political, not debatable, there are no two sides about this--that even people who aren't interested in politics would realize is pathetic.

(106,160 posts)Here's that forecast: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2019/al05/al052019.fstadv.021.shtml?
The last item on it is
OUTLOOK VALID 03/1200Z 28.1N 81.5W...INLAND
MAX WIND 65 KT...GUSTS 80 KT.
That's just south of Orlando, the last point on the diagram the Brat scrawled over. Once a hurricane is inland, its winds decrease (the forecast for 1200 on the 2nd, ie 24 hours earlier, was max sustained winds 115 kts - then, it would have been about 30 miles off Vero Beach). So even if it had got to the closest point to Alabama on the real chart, it would have lost a lot more power (below 64 knots and it stops being called a hurricane). And still wouldn't have reached Alabama.
What we have here is a spoiled child who can't admit he's a dumbass who failed at his basic job of understanding briefings, and passing on information to the public, so he's now trying to alter history to get an excuse. It's pathetic. He's said "get me the diagram where it was closest to Alabama", then "yeah, but what if it went further???? Huh???? Yeah, they didn't think of that", grabbed a sharpie, made up his own pathetic mushroom-shaped extension, said "see? That's huge. That's what women tell me..." and decided to embarrass the USA by showing his stupid drawing on national TV like a 5 year old bringing home what they did in kindergarten.
Just imagine the lack of self-respect his flunkies now have.

(7,951 posts)He regularly signs his name with markers because he likes his strokes to have weight and heft.
He also doesn't like to write, but has no problem marking up others work, and the broad line of a sharpie marker makes his pithy comments stand out. Thickest line on the page, and probably in history! Also, in his mind I'm sure, marking a document like a teacher basically serves to jump in front of any potential significance it has like a picket line in front of a store.
Graydon Carter, the editor of Vanity Fair, once memorably described Trump as a in a piece published more than three decades ago. He wrote in 2015 that ever since Trump had sent him photos of himself and on all of them he has circled his hand in gold Sharpie in a valiant effort to highlight the length of his fingers.

(13,776 posts)The President of the United States
Let's say that again:
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, the second most powerful man in the world, is not even trying to hide the fact that he is brazenly lying in front of the entire world in order to cover up a tiny (relatively speaking) mistake he made in a damn tweet.
This isn't funny. It's pathetic, but it's not funny. His illness is on full display and absolutely undeniable, he could and would start a war to save face if he felt he needed to (maybe to cover up his tweeting of that top secret picture from Iran), and the GOP is pretending everything is fine.

I don't care if it's rude to interrupt the president. I don't care that your White House press pass might get revoked.
Blatant, vain, idiotic mendacity of this type MUST be called out, or you lose the right to call yourself a reporter, journalist, or correspondent forever.

(38,726 posts)If this is true, (a number of sources have reported this) then Trump has impeached himself.
Here is proof that he is not capable of holding this job. If word gets out that he drew the black line, or ordered it to be drawn, then it is clear to everyone, even Republicans, what the truth is. While it isn't the biggest deal, it is the proof that is needed, that Trump is not telling the truth about something very important...
...Yes, impeachable offense to present a map that lies and is altered about where the hurricane is headed.
Lying about something this important, is impeachable offense. Now what we need is proof that Trump ordered it. When that comes out, he is done.
