Saturday, September 7, 2019 2:49PM
A shooting scare at a high school football game had football players and coaches diving on the ground.
Authorities say something that sounded like gunshots sent everyone into chaos.
"We've got some shots fired in the (inaudible) at the Center Point game. Let me get some units," a call from the stadium said.
After a search of the stadium, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office came up empty handed, and called it a false report.
This scare comes just one week after 10 people were shot following a high school football game in Alabama.

(18,770 posts)7. The report of shots was false, but not the panic.
I used to attend every HS football game in my little town:
In my little town
I grew up believing
God keeps his eye on us all
And he used to lean upon me
As I pledged allegiance to the wall
Lord, I recall my little town
What I don't recall is people hitting the dirt...

(13,531 posts)6. Shots fired in the woods near the stadium.
It was coming from the wood, but on the other side, on 27th Street we have confirmed, Phillips said. The PA announcer told everyone to get to the lowest point and remain calm.
Jefferson County sheriffs deputies already inside the stadium ran into the woods, and deputies in patrol cruisers responded to the area where the shots were believed to have been fired. Despite a quick and massive reaction, no suspects were immediately found.
There was likely a higher sense of alert at many high school football games after a shooting in a Mobile stadium one week ago left multiple teens injured. Phillips said they had all protocols in place including 12 deputies on site and a secured parking lot.
