Yeah, about the Orange One's mental decline -

I think it's pretty obvious to most people that the president's cognitive faculties have been on the downswing. The amount of sense he makes when he talks - never large to begin with - is shrinking. His behavior seems increasingly erratic.

What impact might this have on future attempts to prosecute him, either for crimes committed while in office or before?

I'm serious about this. I wonder if a good lawyer could get a judge to rule him unfit to stand trial.

I'm not talking about an insanity defense. I'm talking about legal professionals deciding that Trump is mentally incapable of defending himself in a court of law.

I recall this being the subject of discussion in the aftermath of Iran-Contra; there were concerns that Reagan's Alzheimer's was advanced enough to render him untriable.

1. Trump is on television right now demonstrating

that he has lost his mind.

Rambling on with a pile of crazy.

2. You could be on to something. If one did not know who he was, and just heard him talking, it could

easily be concluded IMO that he's not playing with a full deck.

3. A person with dementia would have to be pretty advanced to escape criminal prosecution

and that would have to be well established medically. But, in so doing, he'd be rendered legally incompetent to handle his own affairs--a very hard pill to swallow for someone like Trump.

6. Pres. Turd would never allow his lawyers to call him "demented."

And that's a yuge mistake.

4. Preparing an Elmer Fudd defense

I remember a Looney Toon where he was in an asylum in a bunny suit, that ended with Buggs - thinking he was the millionaire with a mansion and a yacht - being hauled off for tax evasion while Elmer cheerfully remarked "I may be a scwewwy wabbit but I'm not gowwing to Alcatwaz!"

One plausible explanation is that he's cognizant if his own decline and is enhancing the effect in case the legal system falls on him like ten tons of bricks and flaming horse manure dropped from low orbit.

5. I'd be willing to bet money that no jury will ever convict trump for the crimes we

know or suspect now.

There will always be at least one white wing trumpster on the panel to hang the jury, probably more. I'd have to think about the alleged crime, but I'd probably bet no prosecutor would even take him to trial on a criminal charge.

At this point, I'll settle for a landslide victory to get him out of office next year, and all the shame that will go with that.

7. There's also the issue of venue.

I don't think it would ever be possible to find 12 impartial jurors in this country.
