Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionIn a memo ricocheting around Washington, the partys 2018 gubernatorial nominee wrote that any less than full investment in Georgia would amount to strategic malpractice and challenged the party to do better and go big next year.
It was sent to reinforce the growing sentiment that Georgia will be a 2020 political battleground, particularly now that U.S. Sen. Johnny Isaksons decision to step down at years end means that Republicans must defend two Senate seats next year.
In the 16-page memo, Abrams and her top aide Lauren Groh-Wargo urged Democrats to shun false choices between chasing more moderate white voters and left-leaning minorities who often skip elections.

(1,713 posts)GA can go Blue with voter turnout. I wish my home state of Tennessee was in play. Tennessee is regressing at an unprecedented rate and our elections are going in the opposite direction. I like Abrams vision

This is of the utmost import right now. If there isn't a push for fair elections, it won't matter what she runs for now or in the future. She knows what she's doing and I trust she has what we need where it's needed most. I'm sure she will hold high office when she sees that she will win a fair election.
And there is a very good candidate who just announced, last night, that he is running for a Senate seat. Remember that guy, Ossoff? He announced last night. I think he'll probably do well and win.

(55,818 posts)holding complacent feet to the fire is a good thing. Democrats can do this. We could come up empty in Georgia. We could also gain something more than building a future Blue Wave. Something like a Senate seat or electoral votes. Pay dirt.
