President Trump knocked light bulb efficiency standards on Thursday during a House Republican retreat, telling attendees that the new lights made him look "orange."
"People said, 'what's with the light bulb?' And I said 'here's the story,' and I looked at it...The bulb that we're being forced to use, number one, to me most importantly, the light's no good. I always look orange," Trump said, to laughter.
"And so do you, the light is the worst," Trump added. "I'm not a vain person. ... But I look better under an incandescent light than these crazy lights that are beaming down," he said at a rally in Fayetteville.
His remarks come after the administration finalized the reversal of the Obama administration's efficiency standards on light bulbs last week, and days after he made similar comments at a North Carolina rally. The standards rolled back by the Trump administration allow for the production of bulbs that require more power to light, which critics say will hasten the effects of climate change by increasing U.S. energy usage.
This rule does not prevent consumers from buying the lamps they desire, including efficient options, the Department of Energy wrote last week. The market is successfully transitioning to LEDs regardless of government regulation. Consumers are clearly taking advantage of the energy savings provided by LEDs.

(63,221 posts)You are one of the most vain people on the planet. You are also under the delusion that you are youthful, attractive and healthy looking whereas just the opposite is true. You are an obese, hideous, sickly looking old bag of orange flab who can't go more than 10 yards without the assistance of a golf cart.
Just move to Russia. We are done with you here.

(14,920 posts)Remember how a hair and makeup "glam room" was immediately installed in the Trump White House, ostensibly for Melanie Be Best, even though she wasn't planning to leave New York until the end of Barron's school year several months later? I wonder how much of his "executive time" he spends in the "glam room" getting coiffed, spray tanned, fluffed, etc. while he rage tweets in response to Fox News?

"Michelle Obama had her vegetable garden, Eleanor Roosevelt could be found in the conscientious kitchen she established for Depression-sensitive meals, and Melania Trump will reportedly have a glam room where she will spend at least an hour and 15 minutes of what her makeup artist, Nicole Bryl, calls uninterrupted focus, every day to bring her look together. We can only imagine what the room will require: Though gold seems to fit the bill, Bryl recently said in an interview that Mrs. Trump has asked for the most perfect lighting scenario.....(more)

(5,813 posts)We switched out the regular incandescent bulbs in our family room (and other light fixtures in the house) for the more energy efficient ones. My husband noted that wed see a reduction in temperature in that room. I was skeptical but within a day, I realized he was right. The room was noticeably cooler. I dont think your average consumer will go back to the days of super heated incandescent bulbs that raise temperatures by several degrees.
Besides....havent manufacturers switched over to LEDs and other energy saving bulbs and consumers have been trained to buy them? Why would they want to switch back?

(50,562 posts)Incandescent bulbs put out light that's about 2900K. A person with an average skin tone would look slightly warm under that bulb,
You can buy LEDs with that color temp, or you can choose ones that are closer to daylight, which is 5200K. A daylight bulb makes you look more neutral in color.
If you apply "Home Depot Orange" clown makeup with a stucco trowel, you look orange,

(115,836 posts)And this is because he uses some sort of orange spackle on his face, which he obviously thinks makes him look like a tanned, fit chick magnet. He would actually look a little less orange if he used LEDs because they give off cooler light. Strangely, he looks orange in natural light too, even though the people surrounding him don't.
