Is there the slightest chance Kavanaugh would resign if impeached?

I'm thinking NO. Because he doesn't have to fear the Senate convicting him. In my opinion, that would be the best scenario though. Impeachment hearings that bring out the evidence that is so embarrassing and personally damaging that he resigns.

The reason I don't see that happening is I believe he's a sociopath like Trump. I don't think there is anything that would cause him to reflect and resign. I doubt even pleas from his wife and kids could do it.

I certainly think he and Trump should both be impeached though. Regardless of the chances the Senate will convict. It is important that the Democrats take a stand and do the right thing. Some day, the pendulum will swing back and having done so will be important.

The Senate isn't likely to convict (only one Supreme Court justice has ever been impeached, and he was acquitted), and if you've got a lifetime appointment to a great job why would you quit?

but it can't be ignored. It does apply. It's an indication of how difficult it is to impeach anybody - the threshold is very high.

I hate to be so dramatic, but there really has never been a worse time in our politics. Sure, there have been partisan biases forever. Until now, I believe there have been one or two still honest, still principled people in each party that would stand up.

That is just not the case these days. There is no one to say "At long last, have you no humanity?" right now. The never-Trumpers and the people with values have been run out of the GOP. The only people left are those hell-bent on power and money.

No matter how much evidence is presented, the Cons will delude themselves into thinking he is completely innocent. Moscow Mitch will see to that the Republicans will march in lockstep.

Kavanaugh is just another in a long list of items Trump has used to attach America’s democratic institutions. The worse he makes the court look the better for them, that’s the whole point.

(which he deserves, of course), if during his hearing he'd made a statement to this effect: "When I was young I drank way too much and sometimes I had blackouts. I don't remember ever having assaulted any woman, but I have to admit that because of those blackouts where I didn't remember what happened while I was drunk, it's possible I could have done something I should not have done. If I really did what Dr. Ford says I did, and I can't be certain that I didn't, I am truly sorry." Instead, he acted like a big fat angry baby who was being victimized. Of course, if he'd said anything that even hinted at an admission of possible wrongdoing or that he was sorry, Trump would have dropped him like a hot potato. And he probably knew that.

attorneys will ask him to recuse himself from hearing the case? Will K end up with being able to hear even half of the cases on the docket because of his conflicts of interest?

If he is impeached, he will be ostracized by his fellow justices, and they would put pressure on him to resign.

For Alito, Thomas and Gorsuck, it will be a badge of honor. They and Roberts will pressure him to stay on.
