Trump lies to the world again - this time about oil supply.

The lies:

Text: Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Because we have done so well with Energy over the last few years (thank you, Mr. President!), we are a net Energy Exporter, & now the Number One Energy Producer in the World. We don’t need Middle Eastern Oil & Gas, & in fact have very few tankers there, but will help our Allies!

With an appropriate response from Daniel Dale:

The US did not become the #1 energy producer because of Trump; it happened under Obama in 2012.
US is not a net energy exporter; the EIA predicts it will happen by next year.
US imported 30 million barrels per month from the Gulf as of June; that number has fallen under Trump.

And, US diplomat Richard Haass, who chairs the Council on Foreign Relations think tank, adds some good points:

Text: Richard N. Haass @RichardHaass
We not only have the fog of war in the Middle East as to the attacks on Saudi oil, but also the fog of foreign policy when it comes to the United States. Potus accuses Iran w/o clear evidence, denies readiness for Iran talks w/o preconditions, and still has no clear aims re Iran

Why can't this horrible man be held accountable for lying to the world for statements that have substantial impact on the world's safety, well-being and economy?

The man-child also never misses an opportunity to pump up his huge ego.....

1. I don't see the problem with the Saudi supply. Trump can just order them to use what production

they still have to fill all of our orders at the going price. I suppose his worshippers would believe he could do that. I doubt any president could, but especially not Trump. They have the goods on him.

6. If the shut capacity remains too long, Saudi stockpiles with dry up and...

others will have to open up their taps. As I've always understood it, everyone's oil essentially flows into one big pot and at the agreed upon price. But that's probably oversimplified.

Because the largest buyer of Saudi oil is China, this would seem to put Trump in an optics dilemma if it could be perceived that oil from our strategic reserves is flowing toward China, considering the trade war.

Geoffrey Smith, Director of Oil & Shipping Research at Refinitiv, comments:

“We are seeing oil loadings out of Saudi resume and are increasing to handle the shortfall over the weekend. The question is for how long Saudi Arabia can maintain export levels and quality while the damage is fixed.

The most likely effects are to be felt from November onwards as storage might start hitting critical levels if the processing facility has not been repaired.

4. Wants to reap windfall profits and reduce deficit ahead of election?

My guess is that his simple mind thinks with higher prices from reduced supply, the US Gov't can make some quick cash to hide his spending.
