I think the polls show him about thirty points behind?
So, what did he hope to accomplish?
What was the message he was trying to send?
Is he worried that Valerie Plame is going to kick his ass?
Did he want to try out the "gun issue" to see how people react? (Maybe it's not as big an issue as they had hoped?)
From what I heard of his speech, it was mostly just a bunch of rambling nonsense.

Trump does not know how to hold in person and personal Town Halls. He feels more comfortable with NUMBERS and adoration. This shows how INSECURE he really is.

(16,672 posts)So when he does 'win' it he'll look like a genius. This is a setup for monkeying around with the election there to give him a win.

(82,849 posts)Remember all those late trips Trump made in 2016 to allegedly "hopeless" states that somehow found their way into his column on election night? As October gave way to November in 2016, I remember thinking, "Let him campaign in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. No way he's gonna win those states." Surprise!
It worked once, why not run the same play again?

(16,672 posts)Democracy is pretty much dead sad to say. They'll make it 'close enough' to look legit but it isn't.

(2,250 posts)1. Trump or someone running strategy really thinks this state could be in play. His ego will not allow him to think anything else. It also is a stick in the eye to Democrats to show that he'll take it to their home turf. Fool's errand in my mind.
2. Consiracy theory. The fix is in and he'll miraculaously "win" the state. The visit is a set-up so it doesn't look too obvious and he can point to his "prescence" to winning over the state, when in reality, it was stolen.

(46,187 posts)He HAD TO have a rally on the same night as Elizabeth Warren in Washington Square in NYC, his home turf. And no other venue was available Monday night.
No more complicated than that.
