There's a story, probably apocryphal, of some woman politician (I've forgotten the specifics of who or where) who instituted a curfew for men after a rise in rapes. "Why a curfew for men? Why not for women?" she was asked. "Because it's the men who are doing the raping of innocent women," she replied.

If mass shooters were profiled as they should be, white men would be rounded up regularly. Just saying.

It's just that it's almost entirely men who rape, murder, start wars, and so on.

Besides, every time there's a mass shooting, often the knee-jerk reaction is to assume it's perpetrated by some "Muslim". Almost no such shooting in this country has been done by anyone other than a white male.

My essential point is that if all white men were to start experiencing the profiling and suspicion against them that certain other groups have experienced, maybe that start to understand that it is individuals who do such terrible things, not groups.

And I'm very frustrated that people keep on piously falling back on "mental health" and somehow monitoring that as a way to stop mass shootings. That's right up there with all the gun defenders who say they are safe, law-abiding, gun owners who would never do anything bad with their guns and so we can't put even the tiniest restriction on guns.

As a male, I own my own actions and emotions.

If, as a female, you feel constrained by the males in your immediate environment, feel made to conform, made to moderate your behaviour, fine - do something about it!

There are plenty of male-female relationships and interactions where each party is aware of, and attentive to, the other person's feelings, opinions, concerns and desires. Be it in the workforce, a family relationship, a marriage.

If that is not your experience, look elsewhere.

BUT don't get into the mindset of . . . . you males are unrestrained, obscene animals. Stop it, don't make me do something drastic! I'm a victim! In my victimhood, I'm justified in doing anything!

Personally, I get sick of females who give me the evil eye. As a male, I'm capable of anything, apparently. One look at me, and you just know I'm a potential rapist, a murderer, an eater of new born babies. And no, I'm not going out of my way to convince you I'm OK, and can be trusted, because I can tell you are not OK. I'm going to smile, look the other way, and just avoid you as best as I can.
