If the issue is so urgent, why not do the right thing?

Perhaps I'm being terribly naive, but if this whistle blower AND the IG both believe the incident with Trump is so urgent, then why do they not simply disobey Trump & his DNI?

If it's that important, tell Adam Schiff & his committee directly - immediately. They'll get fired. But they'll have done the right thing for the country, and I can't imagine they wouldn't get other job offers from those who are extremely grateful for choosing to to what's right.

I mean, it's the law, isn't it? To have the IG whistle blower report submitted to Schiff's committee, right?

Help me out here. Thanks.

Maybe they have been threatened. Or maybe they have turned over the information and the "refusing to turn over information" is just a ruse for their protection.

Considering the "promise" *could have directly put another person in danger, it seems this is a possible scenerio.

Im so sick of MF45's shadowy government. We deserve the truth. And we deserve it pronto.

I have this feeling somebody at the WaPo is sitting on this, just waiting for someone on "deep background" to go on the record. It's going to turn up any hour. Somebody's GOT THIS.

to declassify and make whatever excuses for him.

i might have agreed with you before but the Republicans don't care and we can't count on the media to remain outraged.

so they have to make sure the person will be safe.

go to jail for leaking classified information... very probably.

I am certain that the details of any phone calls are highly classified... and only the President and the security apparatus can declassify them in a "readout" to the public.

The IG is not permitted to speak. Only the DNI and the whistle blower him/herself. Lawrence read the applicable law last night. Schiff is just crossing Ts and dotting Is.

the Republican barbarians who've taken over the senate and executive branch do. And a big reason why they're doing it is to permanently corrupt and destroy the government systems they don't believe in. This is way bigger than Trump himself; he's just a bad symptom that could kill but isn't the disease itself.

Otoh, those determined to save our our laws, customs, and norms, have to do so by adhering to and using them. As scrupulously as possible. Of course, every time something is leaked, by definition someone's broken a rule, and sometimes the law. This whistleblower, though, has a procedure to follow and is upholding it. Likely, if there was no official procedure, a more direct tack would have been taken because that would not assist the Republicans in their destruction.

Btw, "urgent concern" seems to be a term with specific legal or bureaucratic meaning. Apparently it doesn't mean urgent in the "call 911" sense.

The attack on Saudi Arabia.

It would be both urgent and need to be kept secret

Of course, we have a deep state that cares about keeping us safe. Enough to risk their lives and jobs to do it, unlike anyone in that party.

And spill the beans about what happened?

It's now become fairly obvious that no one working for Trump is willing to say anything bad about him, even if it threatens our national security.

My hope is that when this is all over, these people in his Cabinet and on his staff, will never be able to work in government again at any position.

They are spineless and despicable human beings.

I am wondering if the Trump team might be floating this B.S. just to distract us from the corruption.
