Besides his weird mannerisms, did he actually say much of substance that was far right or THAT crazy?
yes, he was wrong when he implied that Obama started the war, but what else?
He certainly did not make any anti-abortion or anti-gay statements which may be more than we can expect from Cardinal Dolan who will be "blessing" the DNC.

Fuck him. Fuck his movies. Fuck his opinions. Fuck his legacy.

(75,480 posts)none of the speakers had anything of substance to grab onto, so they either had to tell more lies or make incoherent statements that could and can sound crazy.

(28,287 posts)Like Jon Stewart said, on the most important night of Mitt Romney's life, the public was treated to Clint Eastwood, mumbling at an empty chair. The final evening of the repub convention centered around the Eastwood spectacle, rather than Mitt's speech and what was reported to be a skillfully made biographical film. Thanks again, Clint.......

(27,787 posts)An angry old white guy screaming at an imaginary Barack Obama, blaming him for things he didn't do or that never happened at all.
That's why the crowd loved it. He was them.

(29,257 posts)If he had stood up and called for a complete ban on abortion and gay rights, etc. he would have been better representing the current GOP.
Don't you agree?

(45,319 posts)Last year, to promote his film with gay and gay friendly artists, he hit the press claiming he was a libertarian because the GOP had 'lost it's way' and he attacked the Republicans for bullshit policy and religious crap 'bullshit and crap' are Clint's words. So lots of hot air painting himself as different from the people and policies he endorsed so fully at their convention. Say one thing, mean another is the single defining feature of Republicans, and in that respect Clint is perfectly Republican. Last year he was pretending to oppose their religious dogma shaped policy, this year he volunteered to be the face of that anti gay, anti woman dogma. He calls it bullshit, and he's all for it!
"I'm Clint Eastwood and I endorse this bullshit and this crap and these people who have lost their way."
Nothing could be more pathetic. His word is like a feather in the wind. He endorses bullshit and crap and people he recently called 'stupid'. It is as if he does not recall his own words from last year. But he does recall, he just does not give a shit about honor, decency, truth or equality. He gives a shit about Clint.

(27,787 posts)The fact that his rantings were fairly incoherent and skipped around all over the place, makes the point. And that and the slash across his neck at the end taps into their dangerous nature.
The GOP had multiple speakers attack gays, abortion, immigrants, minorities, Obama the appeaser, so on.
Clint being erratic touched the GOP's id.

(110,159 posts)to the president of the united states. obama presents himself in a civilized manner and eastwood had him saying fuck you and shut the fuck up.
taking a step back and not looking at it closely but a distance, it was very much the scolding and lecture from a parent standing over a child.

Yes, stepping back to ascertain the tone is good advice.
