No...

No, Trump is not going down in flames.

No, Trump won't be impeached.

No, I'm not getting my hopes up that this will take Trump down.

No, Trump's support will not move.

Yes, in 4-6 weeks, we'll be onto the next huge story that will most "definitely, positively, assuredly, without-a-doubt" take down the Trump presidency.

I watched the Nixon thing from beginning to end. I never imagined in my wildest dreams..the most wildest that I could imagine....That one day Nixon would say, "I AM NOT A CROOK'

...Well, I got that newspaper in my basement that is headlined... "I AM NOT A CROOK"

One thing about Nixon and Trump that is similar, Both think and thought that, "I can get away with anything"

I recall that Nixon tried to intervene in negotiations between North Viet Nam and Lyndon Johnson. Trump thinks he can do and say anything. But I believe Trump has already stepped over the line. But no one would know because he has appeared to have done so before. But there is proof to this one, and in my mind it does step over that line......... look at the line below:
______________________________________________________________________________________
A President of the United States does not contact our chief opponent and asks it to get dirt on a political opponent.

The line has been crossed. It sure is an ugly line...

Nixon did not have an entire media ecosystem set up to maintain doubt in 50% of the population and rabid sycophancy in at least 30%. When Nixon did what he did, ABC, NBC, and CBS reported on it and most Americans got their news from them along with the New York Times, Washington Post, or local papers.

Nixon did not have Fox News, OANN, Drudge, Breitbart, WND, and thousands of radio stations telling half the people in the country that He was innocent and not to believe the "lies" told by the "enemy of the people"

You cannot underestimate the power or propaganda. Trump has it, Nixon didn't.

They didn't turn on him out of some sense of duty to country. They turned on him because they knew there would be a blood bath in the next election if they stood with him.

I don't advocate for fewer media outlets but I really think that people underestimate the power that media, both traditional, cable, and social media have on how people shape their reality.

The Republicans in the late 60's and 70's were watching the same news channels as the average American citizen. When Cronkite told America that the Vietnam War was unwinnable, EVERYONE heard that and it brought that reality home to a lot of people. When the only 3 channels where people were getting their news were all showing the tapes and the Democrats were gearing up to take up articles of impeachment, there was no spin, no alternative facts. You couldn't change the channel or the station, or go on a website where none of that was happening or it was all some big conspiracy to destroy the "good and honorable Richard Milhaus Nixon. It was reality. The president got caught trying to subvert the law to cover up a crime, that he didn't even have to commit.

Today, a huge chunk of the population either isn't paying attention, are getting none of this information, or they are getting some of the information, but it is so slanted toward how Democrats are just so jealous and corrupt, that the guy who is breaking the law is the actual victim. Republicans almost CAN'T go against him because they know their constituents probably think Trump is innocent and they would be selling him out.

Outrage isn’t unending. Going on 3 years now of endless scandals, malapropisms, etc. Oh shit, I’m not listing it all here, you and every other eternal optimist saying “this is different” you know every single time, no one holds this MFer accountable, not officially. Not the guys on their side, sure as hell, and not the guys (supposedly) on our side either.

WTF ever happened to the Mueller report? I thought that was supposed to end him?

WTF happened when Muller piped up with “I have something to say”? This place went bat shit crazy for days, and over analyzed every word he said, and in the end? He didn’t say shit.

Please. I think the general gist of those of us saying “stop it already”, is that if it hasn’t been done by now, it’s not getting done. Period. You want him out? Vote him out of office in two years, that’s going to be the only way it gets done. All the rest of this is just shrill garbage that, quite frankly, I think many of us are simply tired of hearing. Futile hope False hope. I don’t want anymore, because I can’t take anymore.

those possible outcomes. Both extremes start with the assumption that the poster KNOWS the future.

I'm a "hope springs eternal" guy who believes that nothing in life is more certain than "shit happens". But, I don't know any more than anyone else.
