(25,048 posts)Her office will provide you with an answer.
The process for impeachment of a president is complicated and fraught with troubles. Do you think the Democratic majority should lurch forward towards an uncertain outcome? Right now, the number of Democratic Representatives that support an impeachment vote don't reach a majority, I believe. Why act precipitously? Let the Congressional Committees do their work and then we'll see what happens.
To be clear, I agree with your implied statement that Trump needs to be removed from office. However, I trust Speaker Pelosi's judgment on this most important issue.

(7,681 posts)The idea that they'd answer such a question is preposterous.

(15,321 posts)So if the police just stand by while a guy is robbing your house you'd have no problem with it?

(15,321 posts)Your question is a non-sequitur. Moscow mitch won't even bring any house legislation to the senate floor, let alone any impeachment unless he's sure the outcome will be what trump wants.

(3,363 posts)Impeachment only happens in the House. If Dems approve impeachment, Trump is impeached. It requires no Republicans.
The issue with the Senate is that of removal from office. And yes we know Moscow Mitch will never remove him, but that doesn't mean Dems shouldn't impeach.

(8,148 posts)to be overly partisan and divisive while they would consider Trump now proved innocent. Future
criticism of the president would be seen in the light of his acquittal. We do not, above all, want to
make him a martyr.

(18,486 posts)Since that's the only way an impeachable offense can be defined. If 218 Members don't think something's impeachable, it's not impeachable, regardless what the Speaker thinks.

(5,101 posts)At least, not unless shes 100% sure it could result in a conviction and Democrats retaking the Senate. In her own way, she puts party over country to the same extent as Moscow Mitch.
