It maybe all they have. My belief (borne out by the number of GOP retirements) is that they know
they are going to get a massive beating in 2020, for sure if Trump runs, but maybe they can mitigate the losses if they can get him out and replaced by Pence. Then they can blame the Dems for ousting Trump and then set a new narrative. There is no level they won't stoop to.
