He said, "It broke my heart."
I've been wondering if the normal patriotic Americans who serve in the government or the agencies are affected by this terrible cynicism of Trump and his people. They work so hard and they believe what they're doing is important and beneficial to the country if only in a small way. And then Trump is winning with the most horribly cynical selfish trashing of all we value. "It broke my heart."

Also--
Trump today at the Zelensky press conference said jovially, "I hope you and Putin can work that out." Lawrence said, "That's like FDR saying to Churchill, hope you and Hitler can work that out."
Even worse, because FDR was no friend of Hitler, and we know Trump loves Putin.

They also pointed out (as did Rachel) that when the Ukraine president said, "We want to buy Javelin missiles," and Trump answers with 'I would like you to do us a favor though'-- THAT is the smoking gun. That's the demand. You want the missiles, you have to do this favor. The "though" indicates that "without you doing this, you don't get what you want."

Last final thought-- apart from everything else-- Putin's incursions, Crimea, the army- let's remember that it was pro-Putin Russian-funded and supplied insurgents -- against the democracy of Ukraine-- who shot down that Malaysia airliner, killing 298 people who had nothing to do with this war at all.

Trump's okay with that. He wants Ukraine to "work it out" with Putin.

Zelensky looked like he wanted to be anywhere else in the world. Trump has no consideration for the fact that Ukraine is in a dire situation and that Russia is its mortal enemy and they're not going to "work it out" - except that he knows he's got Zelensky in a position where he really can't refuse to cooperate with Trump, or at least seem to, if he wants the military aid that Ukraine desperately needs.

Whose morality/Reality do we pledge allegiance to?

Historic times....this is the middle of the end. of the Trump/Evangelical/Republican Party*....a Party for sale to the highest bidder.

Immigration - we need workers to build climate change infrastructure. Millions. Trump is so stupid. He could have pivoted to pro-immigrant labor policies to help us address climate change on coastal/major river communities (and make a real buck for Trump investments)....We are at full employment. We need immigrants. They keep us strong and rejuvenate us. Trump think will be destroyed shortly. Hubris + Narcissism + Ignorance = Kompromat!

Republicanism has been a festering sore on our Democracy since before Gingrich/McConnell took over -the logical conclusion is the Republican Party has bailed on America and invested in foreign interests.

It's gonna be like Cuba in 1958 (?).
