Gowdy was an intelligent team player who held down the role he felt his party tasked him with. It’s my understanding he views his much of his time as an elected official as being personally negative. He believes he spent far too much time generating narratives and too little of his time fighting for conservative ideology.

That is the biggest difference. Many of these Republicans today are truly void of an ideological perspective.

Gowdy was and is scum. Don’t get me wrong.
