(16,886 posts)Couldn't have anything to do with the suggestion of this person being a spy or traitor and how they were handled in the good old days?
Trump issued a death threat....and you can be sure that there are plenty of crazed Trump supporters (and Trump himself) who want this person dead.

(3,695 posts)I can imagine that she/he may not be able to work at some point given the safety concerns. This Whistleblower's life will forever be changed. I can't imagine the kind of courage it took to come forward in our current political environment and Trump's angry cultish supporters. The concerns about safety are definitely warranted. I hope they can maintain his/her anonymity.

(7,365 posts)It's really coming....it's up to the courageous to prevent it.
Donald Trump should be charged and imprisoned, hes the most vile creature to ever make it to the office.
I remember the Jim Jeffries comedy routine where he said a little part of him wants to see Trump elected, "just to see how crazy shit will get". Well, Jim, you got your answer. I like JJ by the way, not bashing him and he surely didn't mean to support this Orange ShitStain.

If that's legally possible..... ...........
When people in government use the power and voice of their office to make public statements which could influence the outcome of pending cases or say things that could endanger any individual, that would appear to be illegal.

(48,955 posts)based on threats/statements by a US President, his officials, and elected allies in congress, and the growth of a social media hunt/dox/attack millieu.
This is not politics as usual - and any place you read, on social media, an excuse of both parties do it.... that claim must be challenged. Suggested response: Specify the "other party does it" example (of someone going into witness protection) with documentation - or this statement is empty and not credible.
I fear for him/her and his/her family.

(5,371 posts)Just to see their faces. And addresses. And talk to them about the safety of their position, their family, the horse's head that will appear in their bed one night.
Nothing sinister, mind.
Then a quick Twitter post regarding identity and address, and a few NRA like hints like 'All it takes is one good man with a gun.'
Don needs to be stopped before anyone else gets hurt.
