It appears Pompeo is threatening his officers if they comply with Congressional inquiries.

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: I’m told that Pompeo’s office in recent days asked State Department HR/IG if they could “discipline” officers for “failure to follow direction” if they cooperate with Congress.

and PS, "disciplining" people who are following the law is a great way to get them to fall in line.

Following direction of some loyalist who's violated the U.S. Constitution, would be violating the law.

This, I’m told, is PART of the IG’s urgent request to Congress.

There is written documentation.

State Department staffers were truly shocked by the directive, which the IG denied. It appears that Pompeo is threatening his officers if they comply with Congressional inquiries.

The IG and HR teams wouldn’t go along with Pompeo’s ask.

The IG for State was appointed by Obama. Not sure about the HR people but the IG and HR are in lockstep against Pompeo’s ask.

Any effort by Sec. Pompeo to intimidate or prevent witnesses
from testifying will add to evidence that the Trump Admin is
obstructing Congress.

Given Pompeo's own potential role in the affair, it will also create
the inference that he is trying to cover up illicit activity.

I'd be leery of partisan media breaking exclusive scoops when the WP, WSJ and NYT obviously have contacts in every department involved and have been delivering multiple scoops a day in some cases.

But at this point it looks like Schiff is going to have to have the ballz to start locking these fuckers up for inherent contempt.

Congress is a COEQUAL BRANCH. When they ask u to do something, it's because they're being nice. When they ORDER you do to do something, it's because you were an ass about the ask, and have now pissed them off.

Jesus and we all thought Barr was a good lackey lol..

....many in the State Department are career officers, who are more patriotic than "loyal" to some jerk-off at the top. If they're fired the could well sue Pompeo.

Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are nearing the end of their working careers and really don't care anymore.

would be a really bad idea. The federal court lawsuit - against Pompeo personally - would be filed swiftly and a judgment - again against Pompeo personally - very nearly inevitable. If nothing else, the discovery would be brutal.
