How you know Trump is in a full panic

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/10/03/how-you-know-trump-is-full-panic/

President Trump, amidst the shouting of “treason” at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) and the repetition of debunked conspiracy theories, revealed that he understands how much trouble he is in. (And by the way, since accusing the president of wrongdoing obviously would not be treason, why don’t the media ask him why he insists on saying this?)

The revealing moment came in Trump’s unhinged and angry afternoon news conference on Wednesday. The Post recounted:

When Reuters’s Jeff Mason tried again and again to ask the [Joe] Biden-specific question, Trump became angry and demanded that Mason “not be rude” and instead ask a question of the Finnish president. When Mason pressed him, Trump responded that “Biden and his son are stone cold crooked,” then leveled his oft-made attack against the “fake news” media.

There is no acceptable answer to that question, because we now have a rough transcript of the call in which he repeatedly seeks to enlist the Ukrainian president’s help in finding (nonexistent) dirt on Biden. That’s the sole purpose of the call. He wanted a “favor” — help in smearing a political opponent.

An anonymous poster on an internet message board calling the president's actions "treason" is light years away from the President of the United States accusing a duly-elected member of Congress of treason. One of these things is far more serious than the other, and the first doesn't excuse the second.

Who are these "purist-jurist" types who you are trying to criticize?

I agree that Trump should be asked to explain why he continues to use the word "treason" when it clearly doesn't apply, but that would likely be an exercise in futility as he will not answer the question like he didn't answer the reporters question about what he wanted from Ukraine on the Bidens.

Just trying to figure out who you are going after with your post.

You ARE actually implying criticism without being clear about who the target is.

I try to be as clear as I can be about what I am saying, which is why my posts tend to run long. I also like to try to be as accurate as I can with definitions and while I do understand that words have legalistic and cultural meanings which can differ somewhat, when words like "treason" are thrown about, it is on the person making the claim to understand and show where the offense is, or to be clear about what they are saying.

Finally, Trump does not ever have to explain because our media is built on an entertainment model now that relies upon access to people in power rather than on a fact and truth finding model. Reporters are afraid that if they push too hard, they will have access removed then suffer job/financial consequences. Also, media is built on ratings and as such things that are flashy, conflict driven, and sensational bring more eyes to screens and more advertising revenue. Trump is a train wreck, but he is the president and as such, he can command media attention because he has the power of the largest economy and military in the world behind his words.

Either words have power or they do not. When people want to be clear about what a word like "treason" means they are likely not trying to derail an argument, they just don't want people using those words inaccurately like conservatives do. I am sure that there are people who argue in bad faith, but those people are pretty easy to spot on DU.

It is better not to make overly general statements without being clear about what you are saying.

And be impeached, then be indicted, much like what is about to happen to his corrupt buddy Bibi. He knows he screwed up , and is losing it knowing it'll all about to be exposed. People will realize they've been taken all along by this criminal and serial liar. What a fraud.every time he mentions Biden and his son reporters should ask about his daughter getting copyrights from China after their dinner he and her were at with Xi. Media should be questioning that now instead of mentioning something that's already been proven to be untrue.

to have the world know how little he's really worth after bragging to everyone how wealthy he is. He tells the world he's worth $30 billion, or more, when I believe his actual net worth to be less than $1 billion, and probably a lot less than that. Money means more to him than anything, and when people find out what a phony he really is, the Trump "brand" is destroyed.

continues. All I have to do is ask, what is he telling us about himself or what he is actually doing?

First, was "fake news" which he made popular. Well, yeah, he's a "fake" pResident, or big phony if you like, for all intents and purposes. Check!

Now, he is shifting that to "corrupt media:, well of course! Thank you. Yes, you are corrupt, the evidence support it and the facts are in. Check!

America First? That's an easy one: America LAST, TRUMP FIRST! Make American Great Again? Well, after he lost his TV show, it has most definitely been: Make Trump Great Again, and now, Keep Trump Great Again. As he delusional and ignorant as he is, he obsessively plays the game of Oligarchs and we get the bill. We know that he would really want to be just like his secret role models such as Putin and Kin Jong-un, etc. If only America would understand and let him have his little way? Huh?

You can proceed with his mention of a coup from here and consider what dark, psychological shadows lie in the wall, even. This shyster is a walking symbolic projection of his unconscious mind, (shudder) and I think that bears repeating and observation.

He’s also symbolic of the dark underbelly shadow side of this country. The evil inner twin of the US now exposed for all to see.

but at least he has some kind of understanding that he's still in the real world when he realized there was no way to defend his actions so, of course, he tries to shame & embarrass the journalist! Fortunately, journalists are not so easy to shame.

After 2 years of Mueller investigating his campaign's collusion with Russia & his constant statements of "no collusion, no collusion", with Ukraine, he's now doing these things pretty much out in the open!! And we now know that he's also been doing similar things by asking other countries to do it too!

For any republicans who, after all this time, have believed the big lie that these investigations are witch hunts (they're not, witch hunts don't produce so much criminal activity & guilty verdicts), it's difficult to say that all of these things are unrelated!!

.

The skill of the reporter to stay focused is key. He did not fall for Trump's redirection like most do.

When Trump realized that his redirection tricks weren't working, is when he started to short circuit.
