As the spotlight on President Donald Trump's interactions with foreign leaders intensifies, former and current White House officials have described Trump's interactions with strongman leaders as fawning, deferential and embarrassing, with many of those in the administration "horrified" at his conduct.
The Washington Post spoke with 12 current and former White House officials who said that members of the administration were shocked at the president's behavior during conversations with authoritarians like Russian President Vladimir Putin and members of the Saudi royal family.
"There was a constant undercurrent in the Trump administration of [senior staff] who were genuinely horrified by the things they saw that were happening on these calls," one former White House officialwho spoke on the condition of anonymitytold the Post.
"Phone calls that were embarrassing, huge mistakes he made, months and months of work that were upended by one impulsive tweet," the official added.
Aides were particularly concerned about Trump's calls with Putin. The first call came less than two weeks into the presidency on January 28, 2017.
The call was intended for Putin to congratulate Trump on his victory, but the new president was "obsequious" and "fawning," even apologizing to the dictator for not calling him sooner, anonymous former White House aides told the Post.
"He was like, 'Oh my gosh, my people didn't tell me you wanted to talk to me,'" according to one person with direct knowledge of the call. And in another Putin call, Trump is said to have asked his Russian counterpart for advice on how to deal with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
"We couldn't figure out early on why he was being so nice to Russia," a former senior administration official added.

Maybe very jelly, too?
He has a great role model. Now, how long before he pulls it off? As long as he is in office, this is a concern. How long can he viciously kick America in the teeth before it is completely toothless? The blood is dripping and spattered all over.
Our Dunning-Kruger poster boy is a mental midget, (obviously) except for his by rote manipulation tactics. Putin, for instance, has a law degree and was an Intelligence officer for sixteen years. Who's the potential patsy here, as well?
This is the test and the time of great consequence! We have a country and a Constitution to protect and it is seriously threatened from within and without. Take heed.

(42,550 posts)I was still in early stages of employment with him, so I hadnt yet seen his full Trumpian aspects, but he was always complaining about the guy he reported to, who was in another building. This man was supposedly an unreasonable jerk who wouldnt let my boss do any of the things he needed to do.
One day he took me along to one of their meetings so I could see for myself. I watched in astonishment as my boss turned into a completely different person. He was nervous, obsequious, and sat in a chair clear on the other side of the office that could have easily been moved closer. I got the chair closer to the monsters desk, who seemed like a very pleasant, competent person. It was odd.

(4,341 posts)If you live in planet Earth you know why he fawns at Putin, but if you live in Mars and just came in to join the corruption then I can understand why you would not know. Another question is, once you understood why he fawns at Putin, why did you stay, why didn't you come out and tell the World what is happening?
It drives me nuts to hear people on TV say "I understand why so and so would not want to come out in public because he/she is in a blue/purple state where he/she may lose votes.", or "because they could lose their jobs"...Are you kidding me? You are putting a senate or congress sit, or a lousy job in the WH where you are most probably miserable witnessing all the horrendous things republicans are doing to the country and the World instead of being a real patriot and coming out and exposing them? What is wrong with everyone where a sit or a job are more important than your country, your future, that of next generations?

Senators Shelby, Kennedy, Thune, Johnson and others all felt a need to spend the Fourth of July in Russia. All Repubs are guilty of sucking up to russia.

And no RepubliCON seemed to care. It was dumbfounding.

(565 posts)This will spotlight that there was, and still is, a Letter Of Intent signed during the Spring of 2016 and assumed to be and still open LOI between Trump and rusky developers for Trump Tower Moscow. One reason Cohen is in jail is that he lied about talks going up through June 2016. Some say talks went even later.
There is no known record to cancel this project or effort by POTUS to rescind it so Congress must demand that submit a letter cancelling this project. Trump is basically holding a draft contract for TT Moscow with Pukin getting his own floor among the rusky oligarchs that financed "meddling" and targeted psycho-graphic ads through Fake Book users during our elections of 2016.

It's like Carlin said: "The real owners" want people just smart enough to run the machines. They do not want them capable of critical thinking and sitting around the kitchen table talking the system that threw them overboard 30 f'in years ago or about the big, red white and blue dick being jammed up their a-hole every day. God I miss him. He nailed it 30 years ago.
