I was going to write 'spiritual,' but that word is often either misused or misunderstood.
Knowing that we are not separate is the key. Knowing that everything we do, however small, is very important, is the key.
Not hating those who are ignorant of Universal Law, but simply being the beacon that will eventually draw them to you is the key.
What are some things we can do?
Eat plant-based, LIFE-based foods.
Trying to tread lightly on the Earth.
Lessen your dependence on cars.
Be a Light unto the world. Live a complaint-free existence.
As the Tao states: "A man of the world gains something every day; a man of the Tao LOSES something each day." Or Thoreau: "Simplify! Simplify! Simplify!"
Have an attitude of gratitude!

I like being reminded, and I appreciate it
when great thinkers and writers elaborate
on details and the way societies can make
holism work for them... here thinking of
writers like David Bohm of holographic brain/
universe fame, and David Peat with the
wonderful Blackfoot Physics.

(322 posts)Do not dwell overmuch on the past, and do not worry one's self overmuch about the future (beyond planning for it calmly in the present). Worrying about either is typically unfruitful - the past because it cannot be changed, the future because life is so bizarre that the scenarios you anticipate will almost certainly never come to pass.

(4,840 posts)and lessen your dependence on other people, as well, as much as it increases your contentment. People can be like variables in our individual happiness equation and the more variables there are, the more complex the equation can get, i.e. people will have different personalities, disagree with you, be incompatible, etc.
I try not to be a bother to others so they are not a bother to me.
