https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/09/politics/donald-trump-impeachment-mitch-mcconnell/index.htmlThe above link to the news story on Trump calling McConnell up to three times a day to warn him about disloyal republicans is important. It was updated an hour ago.
Keep two things in mind. First, Trump is obsessed with impeachment. He is afraid. Second, Moscow Mitch obviously hasn't assured him that all republicans have his back, or Trump wouldn't be calling to update his threats.

(46,166 posts)He has a lot to be scared about.
This decision to turn our backs on the Kurds is a mess he can't wiggle out of by lies or court or with help from his friends. Nobody can turn the clock back before innocent civilians died. Now that this has happened he's in quicksand.
Watching Lawrence O'D this hour I learned that some of his Christian base have turned their backs on him. So, ubetcha he's filled with fear.
I saw a film clip of the decaying corpse of Pat Robertson threatening to remove Trump's mandate from heaven. And we all know that the republican gods speak through Pat Robertson, and not that jackass who was taking texts on his phone while speaking in tongues. Pat appoints who gets that sacred mandate .....for but a small contribution.
It's sad anyone allows Pat Robertson to influence their lives. But it's hilarious that Pat can tell his flock that Trump is fleecing them.
(I'm so disgusted with what is happening with the Kurds. It is so upsetting.)

(46,166 posts)This warms my heart which has been broken over this Kurdish decision.
Feeling responsible for something and not being able to do something about it is tough. Not as tough as what the Kurds are going through. But I often find myself doing something around the house and stopping to shake my head and generally feel like shit on a stick.

Why should we be the only frightened ones?

(73,510 posts)Quite a few people are not fully aware of what led to Trump's late night decision to withdraw the US troops from the region of Syria held by the Kurds. It wasn't Trump's idea. The leader of Turkey told him that their military forces were going to invade. Note that in one recent press meeting, Trump said that he warned the guy that no US serviceperson should get hurt, or the US would respond harshly. That is distinct from Trump's more frequent saying that, if after the US withdrew, Turkey should not overdo its invasion.
This shows that others world leaders view Trump as a toothless dog. They know he is so damaged domestically, that if they tell him to jump, he will jump. The only question is how high.
I realize this isn't a direct answer/ response to your post. It really should be an OP, I suppose, but I'm busy today. So I put you in charge of handling this information. It is not first-hand information. In fact, it's not even second-hand. But it is third-hand, and will "leak" from those in the White House who were horrified at the ease in which the foreign leader punked Trump.
