Social Security benefits to get a 1.6% boost in 2020

It’s official: Your Social Security checks will get a modest increase next year.

The Social Security Administration announced Thursday that the cost-of-living adjustment for 2020 will be 1.6%.

That number is less than what retirees have received in recent years. In 2019, they got a 2.8% bump, while in 2018 the increase was 2%.

Still, it’s better than zero, which retirees saw in 2010, 2011 and 2016.

my pension went up 15 dollars a month, school taxes another 200+ each payment, medicare is refusing to pay for tests, mri, sad because I had lifetime medical until I got hurt. Even the cemetery wants money, I thought I didn't have to pay it until I was dead....humm. I really beginning to think I want a middle finger tombstone. At least I get the satisfaction of knowing it offends people.

It is cheaper if you forego a church service and celebration of life ceremony.

For me, I may have come into the world with a cry, but I plan to leave it as silently and anonymously as possible, and I want to immediately be returned to the earth, not rot over many decades.

is off-putting. I would rather be turned to ash immediately and spread on the soil.

Florida allows people to be buried on their land. I just have no interest in that or in not being embalmed so that I rot quicker. The quickest route is how the ancient Norse did it.
