Hillary just elevated Tulsi's stature by throwing a spotlight onto her. Tulsi was going nowhere. Hillary's attack gives Tulsi just the excuse she needs to run third party if she wants to, so in my opinion, among other things, Hillary's attack was counter productive even if you share Clinton's concern. Plus it is a "Democratic infighting" media distraction just when the media was casting a constant floodlight on Trump's misdeeds. Bah.

(25,518 posts)so as not to distract from the top-tier Democratic candidates who are currently running. And that's the problem... now, all the media wants to focus on is what compromising information Hillary has on Tulsi proving that she's a Russian agent... Hillary should disclose that information as soon as possible to get this distraction behind us.

(17,492 posts)We don't need to deal with it now. It conflicts with the focus on winning the presidency in 2020. You just know that Dotard will run again against HRC if he can.

(25,518 posts)Do those deliberate actions include Hillary's withholding the information that she has demonstrating the Tulsi is a Russian agent? Why not disclose it now... or is it all part of Hillary's strategy to hold off until the opportune time? Could there be another major announcement coming?

(53,994 posts)see, she shouldn't be saying such a thing. It has the same effect she's accusing Tulsi of: slicing and dicing the party. If we don't have unity on election day, we'll be stuck with the orange criminal for 4 more years.

(18,486 posts)"I think [the Russians have] got their eye on someone whos currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. Shes the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far."
She didn't accuse Tulsi of anything. She said the Russians have their eye on her, she's their favorite, they have sites and bots supporting her. Why do you believe she needs "rock solid evidence" to say what she thinks the Russians are up to?
Vinca
(53,994 posts)party member. Tulsi isn't a threat to anyone, but it sure would be nice to have her supporters vote for the eventual Democratic candidate. I sure as hell don't want 4 more years of Trump because we can't get our shit together. If Hillary wants to take shots at anyone, she should focus on the Nut-In-Chief.
StarfishSaver
(18,486 posts)Hillary Clinton says she believes the Russians have their eye on a candidate in the Democratic primary whom they're grooming to be a third-party candidate by creating sites and bots and other ways of supporting her.
Tulsi Gabbard responds with a screed of tweets calling Hillary Clinton "the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long," accuses her of being behind a "concerted effort" to destroy Gabbard's reputation and demands Clinton get in the presidential race because "It was always you" and "this race is between you and me" ...
And you're accusing CLINTON of "taking shots" and "speaking ill of a fellow party member"?
Seriously?

(15,463 posts)Everybody's entitled to their own. But asking HRC to muzzle herself -- particularly on an issue of such significance (Russian influence, bots, favored candidates) -- is kind of equivalent to all those that were advising Nancy to "show some backbone." Because, you know -- "optics." Don't believe I'm going to be substituting my judgment any time soon on political tactics for either one of this savvy operators. I think they know what they're doing.
(And if anybody didn't already know that TG was thoroughly toxic .. she pretty much removed ALL doubt yesterday. Right?)

(5,969 posts)These are the scenarios you describe:
- Hillary is right but keeps it to herself. It turns out to be true and Gabbard makes a 3rd party run
- Hillary did make it public and Gabbard makes a 3rd party run...because Clinton gave her the excuse for it
- Hillary is wrong about what she said
I believe that someone like Hillary has very good reasons when she makes comments like this in public which makes me doubt the third option. If she has solid info, it would be foolish to demand that she should just ignore that.
But it is interesting to see how many come out now (I don't mean the OP), in this thread as well. H. Clinton has a special talent to make people reveal themselves. Gabbard certainly did it yesterday and removed any doubt.
