Trump and his minions knew/know there's nothing to the CrowdStrike conspiracy theory and that Biden didn't break any laws. But they also know, as with Clinton/FBI in 2015-2016, simply having Ukraine's government and the media announce that there is an investigation taking place is enough to muddy the water, suppress turnout, plant seeds of doubt. Think about the simplicity of that.

That's all that Team Trump wanted. They knew nothing substantive would come of an investigation. They simply wanted there to be an announcement. Because that alone can make all the difference.

I know I'm not saying anything new here. My point is that the Democratic Party will need to put a lot of time and effort into addressing this issue. I think public education reform and media reform must become top priorities.

actually on behalf of the principal—no Trump machine meddling with our vote as in 2016. Right. Trump just trying to raise doubts as he did with Hilary through publicly announcing the big “ I”for investigation.

We, the people, can speak not only through our media but as Dems, our candidates. The message STOP meddling in our democracy starts with US.

"File that under Republicans say stuff"? Then teach people that the phrase points to how republicans can't be trusted to tell the truth or to govern. Everything they say needs to be just dismissed so the adults can get on with the business of governing.

At the same time, I would agree that Democrats and the media need to be more blunt about the nonsense that is spewed and then taken as gospel. It's really an epidemic. The crazy shit that tens of millions of people believe is incredibly dangerous.
