We offset Toady! And DC hasn’t had a team in the World Series since the 1930s. And wouldn’t it be fun to see a team refuse to drive a few miles to have hamberders at the White House, if they win?

You can also sing along to Baby Shark.

My team is an absolute dumpster fire of an organization. My only hope is that Arte Moreno gets booted for how he handled the Tyler Skaggs SNAFU (very poorly so far).

But that said I need a team to root for and Jose Altuve is currently my favorite player for having knocked out my mortal enemy, the Yankees. Go Astros!

After all, teams can't choose who roots for them. But they can control their rosters and their front office personnel, like the aforementioned assistant general manager, Brandon Taubman.

Now, maybe Taubman's jubilant outburst in the flush of victory was just support for a player. A pitcher who had just blown a save in the top of the ninth inning by giving up a two-run gopher ball. A pitcher the Astros had traded for while he was serving a suspension for domestic violence. And Taubman really didn't mean to yell his jubilation at four reporters who happened to all be women. And maybe Taubman really was sorry, more than the "sorry if anyone was offended" language in one of his two statements the team issued.

But I'm unpersuaded about Taubman, so go Nats!

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool National league fan. I became a National League fan the year the Giants moved to San Francisco and the Pacific Coast League dissolved.

That being said, I'm a little bummed Dusty Baker isn't skippering the Nats; would have, could have, should have been.

Just because I want to see them give the big middle finger to Bryce Harper.

It's also always nice to see a team that has never won before win it.

I grew up during the 33 year absence of baseball in Washington and one of my greatest joys was the day that we got a baseball team back in DC. Win or lose I am going to enjoy the excitement of the World Series. BTW George Will is a big Nationals fan. Has seats on the first base side and keeps score. Not pretentious at all and says hello to anyone who greets him.
