(have the oil) but he stopped. He knew he couldn't say that. It's against international law, right? To take the resources of an invaded country

But last I tuned in, the rhetoric was to have US forces there to secure the oil on Syrian territory (wait? US forces securing Syrian oil?) that's held by the Kurds in order to keep it in Kurdish control and prevent ISIS' getting possession of it.

Everything else is simplifying and playing telephone off of that. If you miss the start, then all you get is the Trumpian garbled version.

I suppose we should turn all the oil over to the Syrian government--that is, ultimately, what you're saying right? Well, that would be Assad's regime. And, of course, the first boots on the ground would be marked "made in Russia."
