If the raid failed he would fear that it would be revealed as yet another Trump failure. That is, if the operation actually happened. Doubts are already surfacing about different aspects of White House reports.

(4,066 posts)Here is the more likely scenario. Trump didn't tell the Pelosi and Schiff because Trump was not made aware of the raid until after it happened. Reports coming in are that the raid was made despite Trump's actions withdrawing US troops and support in the area - not because of his bold leadership and approval.
Remember that Trump projects his own actions/failings onto others all the time. When he says that he didn't notify Pelosi and Schiff to ensure the secrecy of the raid it's very likely that HE wasn't notified before the raid in order to ensure the secrecy.
The intelligence community cannot be happy Trump tells Putin everything.
He has now fashioned that into a positive narrative for himself. Instead of admitting he had nothing to do with the raid, he can take credit for it and slight Pelosi and Schiff in the process. For Trump, that's a win-win.
