Trump's "purported" role in the apparent death of Baghdadi? My instinct, of course, is to believe anyone but Trump.
This morning I heard Trump say he watched the entire raid---"like watching a movie"--- and then, of course, came the "Obama-like" photo from situation room.
Later I read that Trump was at his golf course when the raid began and that the sit-room photo was taken two hours later.
Now, I just read a chyron on CNN saying Trump claims he watched the raid "as it happened".
Is he lying about this ( I know, I know!) and does anyone still care that he is lying? It certainly seems like he is "this close" to claiming that he personally led the raid, parachuted in and pulled the trigger on al-Baghdadi.
I dare not say what my suggested remedy for this would be.

(43,890 posts)He Chewed on Al Baghdadi's arm to stop him from pulling the cord on his bomb vest. But, to no avail.
Then he personally cut a vein open with his Bic pen to give life saving blood to Al-Baghdadi's children, but it was too late.
He then flew back to Washington on an SR-71 to be back in time to give a report to the media.
Then he went golfing.

(38,428 posts)..We as a people don't know if he is ever telling the truth about an important event with no direct TV coverage to prove that he is telling the truth or lying.. It is sad, and it is almost impossible to believe. But he lies and lies and will lie some more. He lies about anything. Your question is right on. Who do we believe? And your answer is also right on, "..anyone but Trump."
..Yes, 20 to 26 or 27 percent will stick with him. But the rest of the country will puke before we vote for him..
... .............................................
....Trump is an embarrassment to the world and our country. Yes, we care that the worlds number 1 liar leads our country. Most of us care. We also care that we cannot trust "Trump the Liar Not even for a moment..Not one second can we trust him...
....Now, where did I get that 20 to 27 percent number?..It was the number of Nixon's approval a few days before he resigned in 74. I couldn't believe that many in different polls approved of Nixon, but they did.. That is where Trump's approval will stand when he resigns, impeached, or loses the next election. Yes, one in five may stick with the ass**le. But the rest of the country will move on. I hope that I make it to see the new president sworn in..If I can honestly say I watched Nixon in 74, well, I ain't a new lad. I want to vote for our candidate in the next election. Just as most of us do. Let's hang in there ...

(10,190 posts)Trump said he couldn't trust them. He did tell the Russians and Lindsey Graham, though.

(46,720 posts)I suspect that he watched it after it happened. We'll know the truth in the next 24 hours.

(46,720 posts)crumbs for us to figure out where this is going to end. They definitely said he was watching at 5:00 or 5:30.

(5,227 posts)and believe him. So raid started at 3:30. He left shortly after that, drove the 30 or 40 minutes back to the WH, went up to the family quarters, showered and put on a suit and THEN went into the Situation Room. So how could he have watched the entire raid? Obviously he felt no sense of urgency to get back home.

"The president said helicopters transporting the special forces took off from an undisclosed location after 17:00 in Washington DC (21:00 GMT) on Saturday, when he and other leaders gathered at the White House Situation Room.
The helicopters had to fly for approximately one hour and 10 minutes in both directions, while the operation on the ground took about two hours, he added."
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-50200703
Flight takes off at 5 pm EST. 1 hour and 10 minute flight time.
Special forces spend about 2 hours on the ground
Return flight takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Trump tweeted "Something very big has just happened!" at 9:23 EST.
It does add up
"This isn't true. First on-the-ground posts about a helicopter raid in Idlib started surfacing shortly after 5PM EST, 11PM in Syria. Yes, the photo looks staged as hell, but this timing controversy is based on a false premise.

BREAKING - reports of a (US?) helicopter-borne raid on a convoy of Huras al-Din (#AlQaeda in #Syria) leaders traveling near Barisha in #Idlib.
Locals say as many as 6 choppers involved - gave chase to convoy, 2 landed & assaulted vehicles. Possibly took bodies or evidence away.
4:54 PM - 26 Oct 2019 "

Edit: Looking at the above, it appears special forces left their airfield around 3:30 pm EST and they arrived at the target location around 5 pm EST.
