For once he's not in a crowd of hand-picked supporters. There's no way his handlers will ever let something like *this* happen again.

honestly, before this, can anyone think of an event where he was in front of a crowd that was carefully selected to only be MAGAts? Maybe when he was tossing paper towels in Puerto Rico but i bet even that group was hand picked.........

this was really, really bad optics (at best). And if they were not prepared for it .. that ALSO says something really, really bad.

(did someone actually think that bagging the ISIL leader was going to turn this news cycle [in DC?] into a love fest for Donnie? That kind of clueless is kind of shocking!)

I think he only attended this game because he thought he would be greeted with roars of approval as the conquering hero who oversaw the death of Baghdadi.

He must be on a rampage of frustration tonight! Har!!!

When you lose by 3 million votes and the aggregate of all polls for your entire presidency show disapproval well above your approval, don't go anywhere in public expecting to be high fived and cheered. The vast majority of this country and the world HATE you with the heat of a thousand suns. Good gravy! I guess that's what happens when you surround yourself with yes men your entire life.

Reality. It's not just for breakfast anymore.

Trump met with sustained boos when introduced at Game 5 of the World Series

By Maura Judkis and Josh Dawsey
Oct. 27, 2019 at 9:30 p.m. EDT

President Trump was booed during Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday night when he made a rare public appearance in a luxury ballpark suite in Democrat-dominated Washington. When the president was announced on the public address system after the third inning as part of a tribute to veterans, the crowd roared into sustained booing — hitting almost 100 decibels. Chants of “Lock him up” and “Impeach Trump” then broke out at Nationals Park, where a sellout crowd was watching the game between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros. The president appeared unmoved, waving to fans and soon moving to chat with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in his luxury box along the third base line.

/snip

After his brief introduction, Trump was largely a non-presence in the ballpark. Presidents often throw out the ceremonial first pitch when they attend a baseball game, but that honor Sunday instead went to chef and humanitarian José Andrés, who has faced off with Trump in court over scuttled plans to build a restaurant in the Trump International Hotel and has criticized many of Trump’s policies. Andrés received a loud ovation when he appeared on the field before the game.

Trump was expected to meet with a group of wounded veterans during the game, a White House aide said.During the fifth inning, two men held up signs that read “Veterans for Impeachment” at their seats directly behind home plate. The men, Alan Pitts and Naveed Shah, said they are Iraq veterans who are with Common Defense, an organization for veterans who are against the Trump administration.

The Nationals and Major League Baseball leadership were reluctant to discuss the president’s visit. Chased down a hallway in the bowels of the ballpark, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred declined to comment on his golf outing with Trump on Saturday at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va. “I’m not talking,” he said before boarding a freight elevator where Secret Service dogs were sniffing nearby.

The article also mentioned who was with him in the box -

Trump was accompanied by the first lady, daughter Ivanka Trump and an all-Republican cohort, including Sens. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.) and David Perdue (Ga.); Texas Reps. Mac Thornberry, Kevin Brady, Kay Granger and John Ratcliffe; and Reps. McCarthy, Steve Scalise (La.), Mark Meadows (N.C.), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Liz Cheney (Wyo.) and Matt Gaetz (Fla.).

It's interesting to note that since Houston was playing and he had a bunch of TX teabaggers with him, that the likes of Carnival Cruz and Cornhead Cornyn weren't there too, let alone a big MIA being Louis Gocart. I guess that is pointing to the difference between the standard loons and the truly "loyal" loons.

This was his big hero moment. The killing of the ISIS leader was supposed to make him loved.

I’d love for Obama to throw out the pitch back in Houston so Trump can see the ovation he gets.

So it says Iwanka was there but I don't see any pictures of her. I love that she probably went thinking she could be seen with her father and that he'd be royally welcomed because he was "such a hero" who single-handedly captured a bad guy and it turns out she only sees a roaring crowd of boos and veterans holding up huge impeachment signs. Maybe next time she'll try to keep a lower profile, though I doubt it since she's not the brightest bulb in the pack.
