every day it gets worse and worse.
where is the grand announcement of federal aid and national prioritization of fire prevention? where is the discussion of national priorities and mitigating the now-rampaging effects of the climate change phenomenon we've been so glibly ignoring for decades?
oh well, might as well come out and say it:
Where is the horse and the rider?

They have passed like rain on the mountains, like wind in the meadow.
The days have gone down in the West, behind the hills... into Shadow.
the tale of Theoden and Rohan is strangely apropos. for years, Wormtongue beguiles Theoden, corrupting and weakening him and all of Rohan while former friend Saruman builds up a powerful, uncaring, destructive army that develops nearly unopposed until it's too large to handle. there's a very tight allegory waiting to be developed here. like Theoden, adults of my generation and older will begin to pass the responsibility of dealing with the problems we've ignored on to the young, including the much-too-young.
