The only thing better than Mimi Rocah is Mimi Rocah spanking Steve Scalese for being a dumbass.

Mimi Rocah
@Mimirocah1

Actually, in a court of law, the trial wouldn’t even have started yet so this is really dumb. House is in the investigation/grand jury phase which always takes place behind closed doors. The open hearings & trial part is coming & you’re really gonna hate that part. 😉

Steve Scalise

@SteveScalise

In a court of law, this would be declared a mistrial. This impeachment charade has been a tainted process from the start.

Schiff has spent weeks blocking due process & leaking misleading info to the liberal media to fit his phony narrative.

Their resolution codifies this sham.

And they always DO.

They're always brought in to dot the I's and cross the T's, to connect the dots. Two of the best guests they've got.

They know better. But they also know the base will take what they say as gospel.

They lie constantly. Constantly. This is why compromise is not possible. They aren't acting in good faith.

We're not dealing with people who simply have a different view on the role of the federal government. We're dealing with horrible people who exploit ignorance, racism, sexism and xenophobia for their own personal gain. And they cheat. They lie and they cheat. Joe Biden may think there are "many really good Republicans," but he's wrong. He's just plain wrong.

The reality is a whole different ballgame. The sooner every Democrat and Independent (from Coons to Biden to Sanders) and every decent person in the media gets blunt about what we're dealing with the better. Smash-mouth politics and taking the high road don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Be blunt about right wing ideology, about how the mission is to undermine faith in government and all democratic institutions. Be blunt about how promoting white nationalism and patriarchy is key to that mission.

Be blunt about the tactics that are employed when Republicans spout nonsense, which they do every time they go on the air. If you debate the *what*, you give it credence. Talk openly about the *why*. With enough repetition about tactics such as projection and the Gish gallop, eventually those tactics will be recognized by the public and the *what* will be dismissed as the nonsense that it is. Go on the air and say something like, "Kellyanne is doing what she does best, the Gish gallop. For those who don't know, the Gish gallop is when someone tries to overwhelm the opponent with baseless arguments. In other words, Kellyanne is just throwing as much crap at the wall as she can in hopes that some will stick. When she's ready to leave her alternate reality and debate honestly, we can chat. In the meantime, I'm not going to dignify her pathetic strategy."

On DU, we talk all the time about projection, about how Republicans accuse Democrats of doing what they do. But you can be sure many people don't grasp that. Democrats (on TV programs, on the debate stage, etc.) must repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.

And it is so obvious that this is their mission, and we even have the history of the rise of fascism in Europe, and the Republican party is much from the very same playbook. So, now here they are repeating it in our country with just different people to hate. And some of us who know our history and recognize the enemy, we try to push back, but its hard to get through when the reality is something the propagandized don't want to hear. And now there are so many living in a false reality so ridiculous, its become like the invasion of the body snatchers.

And, again, it's time to get over this notion that Democrats can "reach across the aisle" without getting their hand bit. Some cling to this idea that the gap can be bridged, that most Republicans are simply people with a different take on the role of government or on tax rates. How quaint. Alas, the vast majority of Republicans in the US House and US Senate are horrible, horrible people who have no intention to act in good faith. They lie and they cheat every chance they get. They support legislation that is so horrifyingly inhumane and destructive that writers of horror and satire can't compete. The Republican caucus is a cesspool.
