That's why he can't see the illegality of it. And it's why Trump's whole life is transactional. He cannot fathom doing anything without a "quid quo pro" though I doubt he knows what it really means. In fact, he probably thinks of sex and his marriage as transactional and thinks of his wife an employee because nobody does anything without getting paid for it.

Ignorance of a law should not be an excuse, of course, but Trump obviously is not playing with the same deck the rest of us are.
