From HuffPo
Trump announced Thursday in a string of tweets that he was saying goodbye to his lifelong home of New York and moving his permanent residence to sunny Florida ― prompting elation from jokesters on Twitter.
Trumps announcement came following the publication of documents obtained by The New York Times that showed the president and first lady Melania Trump had formally filed to change their permanent home from Manhattans Trump Tower to their private residence at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach.
The White House is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years, Trump began his tweet. But my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence.
He went on to say that, though he cherishes New York and its people and despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in taxes, he felt he had been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and the state.
So now all news stories about him are genuine #FloridaMan material!
A great look for him. I admit to a tiny pang of sympathy for the Sunshine State, that has so much to cope with already. There ARE some nice normal people there- I know a few.
Isn't Florida a death penalty state, too?

(34,189 posts)If a corporation owns the business, that removes it yet another step from being his primary residence.
The original concept was that older people should not lose their primary residence if they did or could not pay their property taxes - so the county couldn't sell the tax certificates and the property could not be seized. It was never intended to allow rich businessmen from claiming immunity for a business asset.

Through college, in Gainesville, Ocala, and Tallahassee, where I graduated from FSU; worked for Ma Bell and hard wired connections to every area of the state.
I know Florida. It's among the reasons I left for Chicago.
Right now, regardless of IRS revlations or impeachment, MF45 doesn't cherish anything. He only goes where he feels safest.
IS Trump safe in Florida? I hope not. But I honestly don't know.
