OK, this is weird. Capital One & BoA is down, and so is my bank...

On edit: Downdetector is showing most bank access is back up, however my bank is still down.

My bank, a national company, is also down (I can't get on via my app).

Coincidence?

On edit - Bank of America (not my bank) is also down. Cyber attack? It also could be that a common vendor that many banks use could be down. My bank is still down as of 11:10a.

With all the major banks going down, this is starting to sound like some major hack.

Had a weird email from Chase this morning, said I had a payment of $35.00 due 11/11, with a balance of $0. My actual balance is a couple hundred, and no payment is due.

Since I don't need any such "services," I just got outta there.

My outfit in the States was recently hacked into with some really vicious stuff, organized crime on a sophisticated level (asking for millions in ransom--THAT kind of serious). We had almost everything backed up offsite, so we told them to stick it up their asses, but we waited until our IT crew was able to confirm restoration before we did. VERY scary. All they need is for one person somewhere in a big organization to open ONE email they shouldn't, and the bad guys are in.

That may explain why my debit card got declined this AM, but my credit card from a different company did not, even though it's a credit union account for the debit card...

Edited to add - Nope..someone tried to use my card online so just a weird coincidence that this is happening at the same time.
