UAW leaders send tentative Ford contract to ratification vote

A United Auto Workers leadership group has voted to send a proposed contract with Ford to members for a ratification vote.

The agreement largely follows the pattern set by the agreement with General Motors, with a few differences.

Ford Motor Company members will get a $9,000 signing bonus if they ratify. That's compared to GM's members who get an $11,000 signing bonus, but that was after a 40-day strike.

Both contracts provide for no increase in out of pocket costs for health insurance, and a pathway for full time temporary workers to permanent status.
