"Trump just wears people down".

How many times have we heard that?

When he wears "people" down, he is wearing the country down.

Giving credit where credit is due, Donald Trump is a master propagandist, unlike any we have seen in recent times. He is very adept at manipulation and division. He exploits the emotions of "his side" by tearing down his opponents with nicknames and ridicule.

And he never stops. One day just flows into the next.

Also, he is an accomplished liar. He will tell a lie to your face and never give you a chance to question it or to ask him about it. He controls the message that he wants to put out. He controls "his people" just as a cult leader will control his worshipers.

His opponents hope that the truth and the facts will eventually win the day. Meanwhile, they conserve their energy and try not to wear down from the sensory assault.

From day one I've predicted at some point he would become exhausted from a combination of our resistance and his own anger, but it never happens. He uses anger like cars use gasolene, I guess, as fuel.

He will keep at it and at it until he gets what he wants.

The staff looking after him when he was a child didn't have any real authority to curb his behavior. And those with authority in his life didn't really care about his behavior because they could walk away and leave him to the staff.

As to what Trump really wants. . .probably his father's approval and his mother's affection. It explains his love of autocrats and his need for attention and praise.

He really is just a angry baby who has been given a hammer by disinterested caregivers. . . Except that the hammer is now a nuclear arsenal. But, hey, how could that cause trouble?

Due to the last 40 years of weighing major federal policy initiatives towards the wealthy, massive tax cuts, de-regulation of media, media consolidation, Citizens United, voter suppression, de-funding of public education, etc., these policies created the environment for an authoritarian wannabe like Trump to exist and thrive.

Given the cost of housing, education, healthcare, etc., most Americans were already worn down prior to Trump.

Thanks for this post. You have highlighted the importance of recognizing that about 40% of Americans are struggling households treading water or going under! This is the big issue. The money in this country that their labor produced has been sucked up to the top 1% and fewer public goods have created this disaster.

Well, one of the many reasons.

I want him to suffer a stroke so severe that his eyes pop out of his skull, on live tv, with his bladder and bowels simultaneously giving way as he collapses in a gibbering heap behind the podium.

I want his stroke to be so severe that it takes out Pence while he stands at Trump's side.

I do not advocate or endorse the initiation of violence, but I will dance with glee when this stupid, hateful, corrupt, destructive motherfucker dies.

If you don't know what the Gish Gallop is, just listen to Kellyanne for more than, oh, say 2 or 4 seconds. She spews a firehose of bullshit so fast as she jumps around from topic to topic that it is impossible to correct more than one or two points before she engineers another bullshit train. (Named for Duane Gish, a creationist that used the technique whenever he was 'debating' anyone with a reality-based background. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gish_gallop )

tRump isn't nearly as good at it as Kellyanne, but if you listen to what he spews you'll see the same sort of form - spewing a vast amount of crap in a short time, making it impossible to refute everything that has come out of his piehole.

Inclose personal relationships, these people are adept at mind games and crazymaking. They are able to "break" their target down in ways that are toxic to that person's mental and physical health, ruining their
life. The only way to survive is to cut off all contact with the malignant naricissist.

Now, extrapolate that to an entire population of targets. A portion of which are incapable of seeing him for who he is, or know who he is, and play along (flying monkeys). Another group see his pathology and push against it, trying to hold him accountable. This group becomes exhausted and discouraged, as he rages against them.

Unlike personal relationships, the latter group is unable to get away from him. We are trapped, with the only solution to remove him.

His pathology is wearing down the entire country, regardless of whether we're for or against him.
