It seems contrived.

I prefer John King reporting election results. Just the facts, no gimmicks.

He acts as if it's all a raffle at a fair, not life and death for some of the people election outcomes affect. I remember watching Tim Russert on election night 2000 in utter disbelief, thinking how can he revel in this and act as if it's such a game?

I never trusted Tim Russert for a second after that - he afforded the Bush scion who called it for Fox credibility and he seemed gleeful.

Karnacki gives me the same feeling - carney barker.

He is hyper but he has elections broken down county by county and knows the history of that county and what percentage a candidate needs to win the county by etc. He knows his stuff when it comes to elections.

He is very knowledgeable. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the political landscape down to the counties. The fact that he gets excited in his delivery does not bother me. I value substance over style.

But I’m beginning to soften on him a bit. That’ll probably change again once the primaries start and he appears to me to be rooting for Bernie, as was the case in 2016.

I was following the AL senate elections and he had the outcome ~20 minutes before NBC finally, officially called it. I was looking at a lot of the same data he was (except he was following *all* the races, not just that one) and I was getting pretty impatient -- "Come on, it's a done deal, Doug Jones has got this!" but MSNBC apparently can't call it before the parent network (NBC), so we just had to wait. But he had it right -- it was a big upset when that seat flipped to the Dems.

Kornacki is a quant nerd; that's what he does and he seems to do it pretty reliably. I think some people just want to hear only good news for Dems and don't like it when they hear that the stats aren't looking good for them. That's sort of like expecting your doctor to give you only good news, even when you're actually sick. It might make you feel better for a little while, but it doesn't help in the long run. I'd rather be forewarned even if it involves unpleasant truths. Sweet lies are for suckers.
