Trump desperately needs to change the narrative. Will he start a war to do it?

Only Congress has the power to declare war. But after WW2 Harry Truman developed the term "a police action when he sent US troops into Korea. "police action" is a euphemism for a military action undertaken without a formal declaration of war. Trump would not hesitate to declare a "national emergency" and simultaneously announce the initiation of a "Police Action if he thought it would keep him in office. "You can't change horses in the middle of the stream".

So who would he go to war with? The middle east would be a logical choice because of the troops and weapons we have there. But the problem there is it would probably piss off Putin who already has plans to get a foothold there and ultimately control the area.

But sending our military across the southern border and into Mexico would not piss off any of his "friends". The UN would bitch a lot but Trump wouldn't give a damn about that. His excuse and the national emergency would be the nine members of an American family – three mothers and their young children – who were killed yesterday in a shooting attack relatives suspect might have been a case of mistaken identity by Mexican drug cartel gunmen. They were part of a community of Mormons traveling in 3 SUV's to another Mormon community in a neighboring state. (there are several of such communities scattered across Mexico). They have lived in those communities for decades when they broke of from the parent church, Church of the Later Day Saints, headquartered in Utah.

I think Trump is already planting a seed to get his base fired up. Trump tweeted about the attack this morning, offering the Mexican president U.S. help "to wage WAR on the drug cartels and wipe them off the face of the earth." He also tweeted "A wonderful family and friends from Utah got caught between two vicious drug cartels, who were shooting at each other, with the result being many great American people killed, including young children, and some missing. If Mexico needs or requests help in cleaning out these monsters, the United States stands ready, willing & able to get involved and do the job quickly and effectively.”

Notice his wording on that last sentence : "If Mexico NEEDS (read that as "if i don't think Mexico can do it) OR request our help".

Mexico will not welcome US troops invading Mexico The President of Mexico has told Trump several times :"Thank you Mr. President for your offers of help , but as a sovereign nation Mexico will deal with our problems And, please remember that I do not lack courage, that I am not cowardly or timorous, but that I act on principles. I believe that politics was invented to avoid confrontation and war, among other things. I do not believe in the Law of Talon, in a 'tooth for a tooth' or an 'eye for an eye' because, if we practiced it, we would all be toothless and one-eyed."

1. I don't put it past him, but there's also no guarantee that will work.

So many are skeptical of him now that his corruption is known.
