Something tells me that Virginia Republicans

Are about to suddenly see the wisdom of an independent redistricting commission this next time around, unless Rob Wittman wants to suddenly see his district bizarrely stretching to include large parts of Fairfax County.

Virginia, you look really good in all-blue.

It's looking like the GOP actually got more votes yesterday than we did in VA. Some of that is an artifact from having a lot of uncontested democrats (gerrymandering also makes the other side's safe seats really safe), but some of that is just that a lot of people have moved across those lines in the intervening decade.

Wonder what effect today's Californians migrating to other areas might be having. A huge proportion want to be able to afford today's 4/5-bedroom version of the American dream, but of course reportedly a lot of them are more of the national ideological sifting out, in this case conservatives moving to conservative communities.

My husband was just chatting with an old friend in Reno, NV, where population is exploding. Pink-purp Reno went blue-wave in 2018 and he thinks it'll stick.
