Change the discussion/wording. Counter the argument when they use Quid Pro Quo

While perusing reader comments to a Marc Thiessen op-ed on Wapo, an argument broke out between a MAGA and a sane person. The MAGA kept screaming the talking point that is now seared into the brain of every MAGA.
QPQ is not a crime, it's done all the time.
That term that is now on the lips of every pundit on the telly as well.
The argument has a basis in reality. It does happen all the time.
Therefore as soon as they scream QPQ happens and there is nothing wrong with that, agree with them.
Inform them that he is not being investigated for QPQ.
He is being investigated for violating the emoluments clause of the US Constitution.
Try to calmly explain to them that what he asked for in return was the violation.

The concept othat quid pro quo is okay, needs to be removed from the dialog/conversation.

My interchanges never start, much less get this far these days. Trump's 30-foot wall was built and separates our realities.

But if someone told me "QPQ" was nothing, I'd invite him to speculate about what "QPQ" Putin offered Trump to betray the U.S. and all our allies to Russia.

I wouldn't bother deflecting to emoluments. They don't care. I think treason would be the only thing big enough to still rattle his corrupted True Believers, and they don't believe.
