Someone laughed loudly during the closed-door speech President Trump gave at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations on Thursday. Other voices spoke in hushed murmurs.

Trump had just demanded to know who provided a whistleblower with information about his call with the Ukrainian president, describing that person as “close to a spy” and adding: “You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? With spies and treason, right? We used to handle them a little differently than we do now” ...

The FBI has launched an investigation into a string of death threats lobbed against the Ukraine scandal whistleblower — including one disturbing email that claims the anonymous informant “should be shot," according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

The source told the Daily News on Wednesday that the threats have been sent to the legal team representing the still-anonymous CIA whistleblower, who first rang the alarm on President Trump’s infamous July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The whistleblower’s complaint sparked the House impeachment inquiry.

Among the numerous threats, the ones alluding to executions and shootings have been the most alarming, according to the source.
