PSA: Nurses who work in America's Emergency rooms across America work harder and are far

more important than any single billionaire that got lucky with one or two ideas and used our broken economic system to enrich themselves beyond any reasonable measure.

So, I ask you to think about nurses if you find yourself feeling any empathy towards billionaires and their tax burdens.

They may work even harder for less money. Wealth tax will not raise enough to raise them. Its emmaverybo Nov 2019 #1

constitutionality will be tested for years perhaps. More provider demand and less wage will create
nursing shortages.

every day in our country, we will be better off as a people. Billionaires have more money than they can spend in three lifetimes. Feeling sorry for them because their taxes will go up slightly is insane.

BTW, I oppose the wealth tax. I do support higher estate taxes on billionaires up to 65% of their estate. Also, I would just raise the minimum wage nationally to $15/hour for all workers with another raise to $17.50 in another 5 years.

of the potential effects on medical professionals if we go to single payer. I don’t think wealth tax critics, Dems anyway, are trying to protect billionaires over people with the toughest and most important jobs in the nation.

Billionaire’s taxes must go up so that they are paying their fair share.

with billionaires. (quite sure that I don't) And, honestly, I don't think there's even that great a debate over progressive taxation. Radically unequal distribution in wealth and income are widely recognized as real and pressing problems. This all pretty much mainstream. And beyond that .. the devil is kind of in the details.

The OP appears to have a target in mind that I haven't really identified. Is there a large contingent of people bewailing the fate of the wealthy?

if that is what the OP here was referring to, it would have been helpful to include it. Having now read both strings, I think I still feel comfortable with my post.

As I said, the idea that the super rich should pay more is thoroughly mainstream .. with really very little dissent. How we effect necessary changes .. is where things branch out, with some approaches seeming relatively conventional .. and some seemingly much more "zealous?" .. and probably enjoying less currency and acceptance.

The nurses were so kind. They talked with me, helped me figure out why I was so out of it. Made sure my meds were working, and safe. I am ever thankful to them. It's not easy dealing with me when my psych symptoms kick my ass.
