He's an indecent, insensitive, sinful, all-around terrible person...

Last edited Thu Nov 7, 2019, 05:35 PM - Edit history (1)

...who may have done a lot of bad things, but they like him.

Because he said he was draining the swamp and they believe him.

Because he promised to shake up Washington, and they want government shaken up.

Because they thought there was too much corruption in Washington.

They believed anything would be an improvement. What did they have to lose?

So they invited Tony Soprano and his people into their living rooms. They sort of liked the way they lied and exaggerated and bragged about who they robbed to get their money. It was just like TV.

So what if the State Department was decimated. The government needed to be shrunk anyway.

So what if foreign countries are invited to get involved with our elections? What's the big deal?

So what if the country is divided into warring factions? So what if they are making deals with the Russians at the detriment of our country and our national security?

He's really funny when he jumps on those "libtards".

It was no accident that Raegan chose Philadelphia, Mississippi, to launch his campaign—a town where three civil rights workers were murdered and where Raegan opined on the states’s rights that underpinned the old Confederacy. Every Republican candidate since then has expanded on racism. Republicans no longer argue real ideas because they would lose. Instead they exacerbate the culture wars and foolish people vote for them. Trump was no exception. He is a white supremacist and that is why his base loves him—because he hates the right people.

Was Saint Nicholas of Myra, I believe.

He used to sail into the harbour in Amsterdam, all the way from Spain, according to my childhood memories.

Of course, Santa was white, and his servants black.

How to bastardise history and teach racism in one go!

Pretty much how I remember it.

Zina Bash flashing a white power hand sign @ the Kavanaugh's hearings.

And Trump's "Good people on both sides" @ Charlottesville or Trump going to Lebanon, OH (home of the Klan
in OH) in Oct. 2018 and talking about Robert E Lee being a good general.

their own financial best interest. There aren't enough rich people to keep Republicans in office. So who is the average Republican voter?

A white male Protestant Christian who never attended college.

Once upon a time all a person of that demographic had to do to command respect and earn a pretty comfortable living was to wake up, get out of bed and show up someplace, almost anyplace, to work. After a while women and other people who are not white, Protestant Christians started kind of getting a little rowdy and demanding their right to do that too. It pissed the white men off pretty bad and they haven't stopped being pissed off.

It's not the money. That's just a beard for the racism and misogyny.

You can’t judge Trump voters from his rallies. People making pretty good money really helped put Trump in office.

The Washington Post
2017

*It’s time to bust the myth: Most Trump voters were not working class.

“The truth is more complicated: many of the voters without college educations who supported Trump were relatively affluent. The graph below breaks down white non-Hispanic voters by income and education. Among people making under the median household income of $50,000, there was a 15 to 20 percentage-point difference in Trump support between those with a college degree and those without. But the same gap was present — and actually larger — among Americans making more than $50,000 and $100,000 annually.

To look at it another way, among white people without college degrees who voted for Trump, nearly 60 percent were in the top half of the income distribution. In fact, one in five white Trump voters without a college degree had a household income over $100,000.”

Thu Nov 7, 2019, 11:39 AM

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now there's a steel knife, in my windpipe
I can't breathe, but I still fight, while I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right, it's like I'm in flight
High off of love drunk from my hate
It's like I'm huffing paint and I love it the more that I suffer
I suffocate and right before I'm about to drown
She resuscitates me, she fucking hates me,
And I love it, wait
Where you going, I'm leaving you
No you ain't, come back
We're running right back, here we go again
It's so insane 'cause when it's going good, it's going great
I'm Superman, with the wind at his back, she's Lois Lane
But when it's bad, it's awful
I feel so ashamed, I snapped, who's that dude
I don't even know his name, I laid hands on her
I'll never stoop so low again, I guess I don't know my own strength
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
You ever love somebody so much
You can barely breathe, when you're with them, you meet
And neither one of you, even know what hit 'em,
Got that warm fuzzy feeling, yeah them chills, used to get 'em
Now you're getting fucking sick, of looking at 'em
You swore you've never hit 'em, never do nothing to hurt 'em,
Now you're in each others face,
Spewing venom, and these words, when you spit 'em
You push, pull each other's hair, scratch, claw, bit 'em,
Throw 'em down, pin 'em, so lost in the moments, when you're in 'em
It's the rage that's the culprit, it controls you both
So they say it's best, to go your separate ways,
Guess that they don't know ya 'cause today, that was yesterday
Yesterday is over, it's a different day
Sound like broken records, playin' over, but you promised her
Next time you'll show restraint
You don't get another chance,
Life is no Nintendo game, but you lied again
Now you get to watch her leave,
Out the window, guess that's why they call it window pane
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Now I know we said things, did things
That we didn't mean and we fall back into the same patterns
Same routine, but your temper's just as bad, as mine is
You're the same as me, but when it comes to love, you're just as blinded
Baby please come back, it wasn't you,
Baby it was me, maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens When a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is I love you too much, to walk away now
Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don't you hear sincerity, in my voice when I talk,
Told you this is my fault, look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed, I'll aim my fist at the dry wall
Next time, there will be no next time
I apologize even though I know it's lies
I'm tired of the games, I just want her back, I know I'm a liar
If she ever tries to fucking leave again
I'm a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

The Republican party welcomed the racists who fled the Democratic party after the Civil Rights Act. That may be when it started to become the party of destruction. It has been a continuous, accelerating, positive feedback loop of gaslighting ever since. They attack government and then use the damage to convince their "base" that government is broken and needs to be attacked.

Trump is very good at mixing truth with lies, and that's the most dangerous kind of demagogue. At lease we're seeing the effect is starting to wear off on those he deluded. The question now though is how far is he willing to go to maintain control, and how willing and able we are to fight this monster and his flying monkeys.

He DID drain the swamp. The problem is, he hired all the dregs that were in that swamp. Funny how slime seems to melt with other slime, isn't it? This administration has the worst of the worst. Con men, liars and sleezy opportunists. For someone who dislikes foreigners, he certainly appreciates the criminal element from anywhere, especially Russia.
