...attempting to escape a trap of his own making.
How many more times do we have to hear him say the phone call was "perfect"? No, Asshole! It wasn't perfect. It was proof of attempted bribery.
He doesn't want there to be public hearings next week. Why? Because he can't control them.
Sondland? Doesn't know the guy. Just like he didn't know Michael Cohen or Paul Manafort?
Everybody is out to get him. It's all a hoax. Pelosi is a corrupt politician. Adam Schiff is doubly corrupt.
Look at the great job he has done with stock market and with the record number of jobs he has created, he says. Never mind that he is a million jobs behind Barack Obama at the same time of their presidencies.
He is a desperate man grasping for straws. The truth has finally caught up to him and is getting ready to give him the body slam of his life.

(16,616 posts)A lot of stuff is moving like an avalanche now against him and it's totally beyond his control. He's lost control of the narrative and the harder he tries to reclaim it, the worse he looks. He begins to fragment at moments like this. On top of that and the public hearings, the Anonymous book is going to aggravate his paranoia and vengefulness. Every single day more stories break.

(31,516 posts)unqualified for the job, didn't expect to win the election and did not have a plan on how to proceed if he did win. It was nothing but a publicity stunt for him, but his ego would not allow him to drop out of the race, which he could have done up until the convention. He has made a mockery of the process by soliciting and accepting help from Russia, Wikileaks and who knows what other entities.
He continues to push the US into a downward spiral that will take years, if not decades, to repair. He has alienated our allies while he embraced our adversaries. He has made appointed the worst possible candidates to high level government position. He has used the office to advance his personal and business interests.
The fact that he still has a segment of the population that thinks he's doing a good job is absolutely frightening to me.

(146,288 posts)to try to whitewash them. It won't work, and will just make him look weaker and more desperate. It's going to be a tough row to hoe. Fascinating.

(9,670 posts)And they all complained that the economy wasn't growing fast enough for their liking. So Obama had to go. Blah, blah, blah.
Makes me wonder why the media doesn't attempt to elicit a response from those same Republicans as to how Trump's inferior economy is somehow better than Obama's.
It's because our free press isn't free anymore.

I hope this is the end of the GOP once and for all!

bucolic_frolic
(43,149 posts)but I just don't see how we get the guy out of there. Republicans are the rich or compromised or bought taking care of their own. They worship money, and nothing else. Trump has money. Or appeared to, who knows. That's why they stick with him.
At its core this is an epic conflict between cutthroat capitalism, survival-of-the-fittest Darwinism, and cooperative capitalism for all.
Where it ends, no one knows.

(21,333 posts)Plus the fact that bribery is mentioned in the Constitution as a reason for impeachment.
I'm fine with people calling it bribery, just stop calling it quid pro quo.

(30,613 posts)And I get that it's in the Constitution, but if extortion isn't a "high crime" (especially at this magnitude), what the hell is?
