Just like from the 30`s, a stadium of blind followers cheering for Hitler, they finally found a place that would cheer for the idiot Trump.

(10,163 posts)Of the chosen one. Then they quietly backed off so they didn't get arrested for violating people's rights.
But yeah, they did back off..........from threatening people with violating their civil rights.
So, I guess that's sort if kind of like a democracy that enshrines freedom of speech in the First Amedndment. Sort of, kind of.

It might have to be one of the paraders to protest? That'd be cool. Oh wait, veterans day..not a float type parade - military people?

(15,324 posts)I watched and CBS had him on screen for about 1.5 seconds... the crowd didn't even have a chance to boo the orange fuckstick, and on the very next play, the AL QB fumbled the football like Rudy handling an iPhone.
This whole thing is a big fat nothing burger.
I urge DU to let this story die the death it deserves.

(8,200 posts)I had a brother-in-law who lived in Alabama and we visited him many times until his recent death. You would be hard put to find a person out side of Montgomery, damn few even there, who had a decent word to say about any Black person and give them their due. Dating from the passage of the Civil Rights legislation, the South is basically an increasingly white nationalist strong hold that has put its loyalty to the Republican Party above its loyalty to the Constitution or even their own well being.
It is difficult to understand why any Black or for that matter any minority would tolerate living in a section of the nation that has absolutely no respect for them. Unfortunately for a substantial number, they are captives of their economic circumstances and the path to freedom has evaporated with the disappearance of good paying industrial jobs in the North. The only a degree of solace is that the racist whites are quickly finding themselves hopelessly the victims of an economic revolution as automation is rapidly replacing manual operations. Many, if not most, are so gripped with blind prejudice cultivated by their devotion to right wing propagandists they are oblivious to the facts that they are supporting their own economic destruction. How do you logically discuss issues with people who are in desperate need for medical care that they can't afford to not back the insanity of the expansion of affordable health care offered by the Affordable Care Act? Many ask why. The answer is simple. They view it as legislation that is designed to provide assistance to minorities and oppose it even at their own expense.
So white Trump loyalists, all I can say is keep up the good work. You are digging your and your children's return to the desperation of the pre-Roosevelt era. A time in which the working class was gripped in a barren wasteland where any hope for a descent share of the profits for your labor was a hopeless dream. Be assured that the wealthy class wholeheartedly welcomes your support.

People on this board get upset with us when we northerners complain about the south, but the racism and hatred is so thick in those areas of the country it is definitely a regional problem. I know there are decent, liberal non-racist people who live in southern states and I appreciate the work they are doing there. There are no areas of this country that are entirely free of racism, but the south seems to have a very deeply ingrained hatred of anyone who isn't white and christian.
Just look at how they vote and who they send to Congress. That tells you a lot about them.

(8,200 posts)I don't know how many times I have heard the old refrain that the liberal media is totally the blame for spreading lies. I have relatives throughout the South. One of my kin was raised in Mississippi and her grandfather had over twenty slaves. There are sections of the family that despise the fact some of their kin folk held slaves, but others actually have expressed what a great service the slave owners were providing for the care of slaves who they believe were actually better off as slaves than living in Africa. I will venture to say that most of the women I know, especially my own mother, said that those who held such notions were just ignorant no-nothing trash. I have found it to be a predominately male notion of some superiority and the least educated the more racist. I have seen that women especially have little trouble bonding with minorities and especially other women. They seem to share a special bond, perhaps because of their being mothers and are able to have greater empathy. We best elect more women to positions of power. They seem to be able to not let it go to their head. As Lincoln said if you what to test a man's character give him power. Isn't Trump the prime example?
