(4,066 posts)I didn't realize Barr was a religious nut-job until his recent speeches. The ones where he says secularists are ruining the world.
Like Pence and Pompeo, Barr has a fervent belief in his god and his religion. Pence and Pompeo are the frightening dominionist types looking forward to their rapture. I'm fairly certain they believe Trump is helping to bring that about. That he's part their god's plan for the world. Barr is pretty much there with them.
I think Barr, and the others, believe Trump's major issues can be overlooked because he is serving the greater good for their god. It's the same way they can justify lying, one of the big 10. It's okay to do these things in service to their god. Their god will forgive their sins because their ultimate goal was to "his glory."
In less nice terms: "The ends justify the means" when they believe it serves their god.

(63,221 posts)There is nothing about them that demonstrates that they live a life according to Christ, in fact it is quite the opposite, yet somehow they believe they are carrying out the word of the lord. They are sick, psychologically damaged human beings and have no business conducting anything government related whatsoever.

(4,066 posts)These religious nut-jobs have always been able to justify the most horrible atrocities in the name of their god. The modern ones are no different. They're just not all torturing people to death - right now.

(23,224 posts)I think he wants a seat on the Supreme Court to tide him over. Purely my speculation, tho. But everything he has done in his tenure (plus his "audition" letter before his appointment) has been done to ingratiate himself to pRes. Shitgibbon--certainly a prereq to SCOTUS nomination.
