Trump basically turned me into a Democrat': Working-class white women drifting away from Trump

DUBUQUE, Iowa — One of the essential storylines of the 2016 presidential election was the hidden Donald Trump voter: the person who wasn’t surveyed by pollsters or comfortable telling friends or family about who they thought was best to lead the country.

Three years ago, thousands of these Americans — many working class, residing in the middle of the country — helped deliver the most astounding electoral surprise in modern history. Now, as they review the Trump presidency a year before his reelection, some are showing signs of turning on conventional wisdom again.

Heather, a local administrative assistant here who is married with a stroller-bound toddler, is still so embarrassed by her 2016 vote that she wasn’t comfortable revealing her last name.

“I’m ashamed to admit … but I’m of a more conservative bent and family. I just couldn’t vote for Hillary. But I also thought there’s no way Trump was going to win. This way, I could at least say, ‘Well I didn’t vote for her,’” she said. “I didn’t think I was doing any harm.”

she sounds really dumb and short-sighted. These idiots then cause the suffering for other people affected by Trump and it's always infuriating reading about these bozos.
She thought Hillary would win but intended to not take any responsibility for the policies of her Presidency by being the Trump voter. She wanted to appear as the smart one who saw it all coming.

So it was safe for her to case a stupid vote for Trump which was really a vote against Hillary.

7. I bet Heather, if pressed, couldn't articulate her views on a single issue. Not one.

And, if she tried, she'd be dead wrong.

As for the Trump voters who are now turned off by his rhetoric, why weren't they bothered by it 3+ years ago? We already knew back then that he was an ignoramous, a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe, a liar, a tax cheat, and - oh yeah - a rapist (and probably not just of his ex-wife).

8. I think the "I voted" stickers should be available at any liquor store for purchase.

Day before the election, buy a fifth of whiskey and an "I voted" sticker. Get drunk. Wake up. Compose yourself in your "election attire" and put the sticker on. Then go to your friends election party and looked shock that "your candidate" lost. Never be shamed by your "neighborhood elites" that you didn't do your civic duty....when in reality, you did.

Yeah, I know, they could have voted for Hilary. But I'm conscience of the power of individual pride....if they won't do the right thing, don't give them the option of doing the wrong thing. Give them the option to BS their way.

is that people are referring to Trump's "reelection." If we all stick together, maybe we can defeat him and his minions.
