(19,006 posts)This is a company who has the worst record on ethics of any major corporation.
They are a symptom of the evil that runs America now, right and wrong have no place, what you can get away with to increase profits is what rules them.
These people are sick.

(11,256 posts)The entire premise of Uber at the beginning was to openly flaunt the law, and force local governments to try and stop them.
Local taxi laws are far from perfect, and are in need of serious reform, but they also exist for a reason. Uber's legal issues over the last decade are a good reminder of some of those reasons.

(19,006 posts)The App is all there is to the business, it's a very good App and easy to use, but it's no big deal really. If someone would have created the app and marketed it to cab companies it would have revolutionized the cab industry.
The concept of Uber is not bad, but when a company is that unethical, it isn't going to change.

(21,786 posts)they're both backdoor deregulation of (regulated) licensed taxi services engaging in stealth union busting (cab drivers in many cities are members of a union). If you use either and claim to oppose libertarian-style deregulation and claim to support unions, you should be ashamed of yourself, because you're either a hypocrite or a moron.

(41,956 posts)I know people who are desperately trying to make ends meet by driving Uber or Lyft. Id like to see better corporate ethics too but its not a clear cut and easy choice.

(27,800 posts)Travis Kavalanick was one reason, I don't like the disruptive model, I don't like how anti-union the gig economy is, I don't like how they don't take responsibility for their drivers' insurance, I don't like how Uber eats is actually costing restaurants money just to use them, I don't like the vastly increased congestion rideshares create - both downtown and at airports, I don't like how they break the law, I don't like their surge pricing, I don't like the JUMP bikes Seattle's now being littered with, and now this.
I do take cabs sometimes, and thanks to Uber it's a lot harder to find one when I leave a show at night.
