bigots for hire

i know quite a few republicans who are in it solely for the tax cut. they're often independent or libertarian, but they of course always vote republican.

they tell me they don't like the party, don't like the bigotry, don't like the corruption, don't like donnie, and don't like the propaganda.

but they do loves themselves some tax cut, especially when it's slanted toward the rich. they count themselves as winners even if there are still far wealthier people who are making out like bandits while they get peanuts.

the tell me they're not bigots, but they'll hold their noses and vote republican (every damn time it seems) to get their tax cut.

in other words, they wouldn't be a bigot for free, but they're happy to get a second job being a bigot. they're happy to be a bigot for a few extra bucks.

and really, it's just a few extra bucks. for someone earning even a whopping $400,000/year, a tax cut of 3 percentage points means maybe a savings of $8,000 (not all the income is taxed, not all at the higher rate, there are deductions and retirement plans, etc.)

so basically they're saying they're willing to take a second job as a bigot, or at least as a bigot supporter, for a 2% increase in pay.

sorry, i'm calling them bigots. anyone who will sell their principles for that cheap doesn't really believe in those principles.

an employer once asked me to avoid hiring gay people.
i wanted to quit on the spot but decided i should consults with my finacee first.
she said should couldn't be prouder, so i snuck in over the weekend and cleared out my belongings and quit first thing monday morning.
i sacrificed 100% of my household income for my principles. these people sell theirs for 2%.

bigots.

i think there are many people on du who would do this if they were put in that situation. most people aren't put in such a position, at least not so blatantly. but i think most on du have morals in line with mine, and we're willing to vote that way, even if it means giving up a small tax cut.

my point is the contrast with the position of these tax cut right-wingers. to say you're not a bigot, but for 2% of your salary, you'll endorse and support and vote for and maybe even financially contribute to bigotry and bigoted politicians and bigoted policies, well, then, that really isn't a principle they feel very strongly about, if they're even telling me the truth....

tax cut as their reason for supporting trump, who only saw the equivalent value of a tankful of gas increase per paycheck—nothing approaching the 8k you cite.

probably was only 3-card monte with the tax refund being proportionately smaller. All the pukes did was decrease withholding.
